The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for
assisting in the management of the Nursing Department and acts in place of the
Director of Nursing as needed. This includes the delivery and maintenance of
quality care and services to residents. The ADON works in collaboration with
Nursing Administration in fostering an organizational culture characterized by
team-work, precision, openness, engagement, challenges, reports and deliverable
results. Additional responsibilities include planning, organizing, developing
and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department in accordance
with current federal, state and local standards, as well as guidelines and
regulations that govern the facility.
Essential Duties And
1. Adheres to all facility and department work
rules, policies and procedures.
Coordinates the daily functions of nursing department
and interacts with nursing staff, families and physicians.
Collaborates with Human Resources in areas including
recruitment, orientation, training, staff development, performance evaluation,
disciplinary action and policies and procedures.
Responsible for meeting required department staffing
Reviews nursing documentation and care plans; revises
or updates as needed.
Assists with scheduling of nursing staff as needed.
Assists with staff in-services as directed.
Assists with the development, revision, and
implementation of nursing policies.
Assists with the development, implementation, and
monitoring of any plans of correction.

Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure in good standing or temporary practice
of an accredited school of nursing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
(5) years of nursing experience in long term care or similar health care
