Hours: Full-Time M-F

Location: Columbia, MD

Contract: 6 - 12 month Temporary-to-Hire

Pay: $60 per hour

 

Position Description:

 

We have an immediate opening for a DevOps Engineer who will work closely with software developers, database administrators, project managers, system administrators, etc. to provide continuous integration, continuous delivery, and IT infrastructure support for web applications development in a fast-paced, high-demand Windows Server & Linux environment.   Ideal candidate will be motivated, self-starting engineer with great communications skills who will implement application deployment and automation tools that will streamline applications and processes from development to production. Individual with a forward-leaning approach will have the chance to drive modernization efforts with the full support of our client.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Design, test and implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines

·         Design and develop automation and testing tools across the entire development stack

·         Troubleshoot source code management and deployment issues

·         Install, configure and maintain Windows server software

·         Perform security, performance and availability assessments

·         Optimize system performance, availability and scalability

·         Work in an agile team environment

·         Identify new opportunities for automation

·         Design new automation systems or processes

·         Help improve the overall infrastructure deployment and management workflow

·         Ensure software updates are correctly deployed

·         Configure and maintain infrastructure configuration management platforms, including Ansible

 

Preferred Experience:

 

·         Familiarity with Agile/Scrum principles and experience working in an agile environment

·         Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server 2016

·         Source control repository Subversion. Experience with git is a plus

·         Linux and/or CentOS build, development, and operations experience

·         Software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, packaging, deployment, upgrade and support of Jenkins

 

Education:

 

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or other related scientific or technical discipline or three (4) years of equivalent experience in a related field.

 

General Experience:

 

The proposed candidate must have at least six (6) years of experience in systems engineering including (3) years in DevOps area.
