Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Holden, MA,  is looking for a dynamic Unit Manager to join our long term rehab unit!  Holden Rehabilitation is part of the Oriol Health Care group, provider of top-notch quality care for over 55 years. We are pleased to offer a $500.00 Retention Bonus for the right candidate after 3 months of employment.

The Unit Manager will manage and coordinate resident care activities, unit operations and nursing personnel on a designated nursing unit.  This is a full time position; 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. 

Essential Qualifications:

Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, Current MA nursing license and be experienced with respiratory care

Skills:

Solid management and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with staff, ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and meet required deadlines.  Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over a long period of time.

Essential Functions:

Evaluate resident's status and unit activities at the beginning of each shift and ensure an appropriate level of nursing staff is available to provide safe, high quality care

Make frequent rounds on unit to elevate resident status and staff performance

Recommend staffing patterns and needs to nursing administration

Monitor lateness and absenteeism of unit employees and counsel as needed to improve attendance

Participate in disciplining and counseling of staff

Conduct unit meetings with nursing staff

Ensure resident assessments and care plans are developed, reviewed and revised as necessary and according to requirements

Oversee direct care activities to ensure that practices are consistent with facility policies

Participate in the development of resident care plans

Coordinate care and communicate with resident's family/significant others

Report changes in the resident's status to the physician and assistant director of nursing/shift supervisor.  Establish working relationship with physicians

Provide direct care as necessary

Provide informal instruction to employees as necessary

Protect the privacy of residents and employees

Maintain positive working relationships between nursing staff and other departments

Ensure all staff adhere to facility infection control/safety standards

Participate in the on-call weekend and holiday rotation
