ROAR is Tofino's new favorite live fire restaurant and bar that makes every meal feel as relaxing and fun as a roaring beach fire. Right now, we are turning up the heat on our hunt for a 1st Cook!
Located in the swanky Hotel Zed, ROAR is the first restaurant by Accent Inns Inc! We're a family-owned, BC-based hospitality company that LEADS WITH LOVE and our number one metric as a company is the happiness of our staff, who we call our Fam-Jam cause we are like family.

What You'll Do
As 1st Cook you'll be responsible for smooth execution, organization, and cooking of all food requirements at ROAR. The 1st Cook plays a key role in development and attention to Health and Safety practices and as such is role model, coach, leader, and ambassador. Key aspects of the role include:
- Manages food quality, portion control and plate presentation through 100% recipe adherence throughout the team
- Supports head Chef in culinary direction by providing specials and new menu ideas
- Lead by example throughout entire shift
- Train and coach new and existing employees
- Assist kitchen Leadership team in maintaining and improving Labour and Food Costs
- Supervise standards of cleanliness, timing, organization, production, food quality, and consistency through ensuring completion of operational checklists
- Monitors and leads by example in kitchen cleanliness
- Ensure all products are prepared, held, and served at correct temperatures and correct visual appearance
- Accurately complete all orders with uncompromising quality and consistency

- You know communication keeps everything running smoothly. You provide regular and relevant information on cleanliness and equipment maintenance

- Preference given to local candidates
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years culinary experience in a full-service restaurant is an asset
- Live fire knowledge an asset but not required
- Must be innovative, detail oriented and quality driven
- Must be responsible, able to take initiative, maintain supervision in a fast-paced high-energy environment
- Creative, energetic, with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
- Culinary degree or diploma considered an asset but not required
- Food Safe BC
