A Seasonal Toy Ambassador has a passion for toys, technology, and fun with an objective to produce world-class customer experiences and support of the store team. As a Toy Ambassador, you are our dynamic sales associate and you will assist the management team in creating a diverse and inclusive culture for both store team and customers alike, while always maintaining a whimsical and theatrical demeanor. You will focus on connecting, consulting, and closing the sales with our customers by asking open-ended questions, assessing their needs, and making the appropriate suggestions while leveraging all available resources including FAO.com, personal shoppers, and our hands-free courier and shipping options. You will take a proactive role in maintaining FAO Schwarz brand standards while engaging with customers. You will support our Cashiers by performing mobile point of sales (POS) transactions directly on the sales floor and bagging the customer’s products with care in our shopping bags. You may also support our Cashiers at the cash-wrap if the backup is needed and you will work in an efficient and timely manner while maintaining a high level of guest service.
This role will also involve demonstrating a specific product or line of toys as well as being a dynamic spokesperson for the FAO Schwarz brand. Seasonal Toy Ambassadors will perform live interactive toy demonstrations for numerous products and are considered our toy experts in these areas. This role will also participate and host store activities such as dancing on the FAO Piano, in-store parades, costumed character roles, and engaging with our communities to create a high energy, fast-paced environment that provides customers with an entertaining, fun and dynamic experience. A Toy Ambassador’s primary responsibility is to ensure our customers have a world-class shopping experience and this is done by engaging and providing customers with a magical and whimsical experience where their needs are met every time.
You will report to the Sales Manager and will be lead by our Sales Leads on all daily operations. You will work retail hours, which may include day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays, based on department and store/company needs.
What You’ll Do
This role has 2 key areas of responsibility:
Deliver the highest level of the customer experience through the execution of store standards, training, product demonstrations, exclusive flagship experiences, and profound knowledge of our products and the FAO Schwarz brand. Our physical and eCommerce stores are the public face of the FAO Schwarz brand, where everyone can directly experience all that is possible with FAO Schwarz. Feel empowered to impact and support store and corporate leadership teams in the development of innovative ways to make a larger impact on the lives of our customers and our teams.
Ensure a world-class omnichannel shopping experience for all customers. Actively drive omnichannel sales in all areas of the business, working with total store team to build and maximize results. Work closely with the store team to ensure that all areas of the business are being executed to the highest standards, driving sales and that we meet our revenue goals.
What We’ll Expect You to Have
- A sense of whimsy, a nostalgia for toys, and a fondness for the FAO Schwarz brand
- An outgoing, engaging, and theatrical personality with a passion for closing the sale
- Excellent collaboration, communication, time management, adaptability, drive for results, influence for impact, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as high-level attention to detail
- Acting, dance, and music training/experience a plus
- Ability to speak to and entertain a large group as well as focusing on one customer
- Knowledge of and experience with retail POS Systems.
- Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds, bending and twisting and standing for long periods of time
- Proven ability to lead and remain positive, resilient, adaptable, and succeed in a fast-paced, public-facing retail environment
