About Working on a “Floatel”
LandSea will be providing workforce catering and accommodation services for guests onboard the MV Isabelle, a 650 passenger “Floatel”. The Floatel will be permanently docked in Squamish, B.C. and is estimated to operate for up to three years. All crew members onboard the MV Isabelle must have the minimum marine safety certifications required by Transport Canada for the specific job.
Individuals who do not have the required marine safety certifications (see details below) will be required to attend a 5 – 10-day marine safety program. LandSea covers the costs of training, however, crew who do not complete minimum employment contracts are responsible to repay part of all the training costs.
At work, the crew are provided with accommodation, full meals, WIFI and can access health/gym facilities they can access when off work. We provide partial uniforms and help with the travel/reservations as needed to and from locations. Excellent Health and Wellness benefits are offered after three months.
About the Opportunity
The Breakfast Cook is responsible for preparing breakfast service items outlined in a predetermined menu plan. They must be able to work fast yet diligently with a focus on consistency while open to direction. The Breakfast Cook reports to the Chef or Relief Chef.
Job Responsibilities
Participates in the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of breakfast
Demonstrate mastery of all aspects of scratch and par baking (I.e., breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, squares, etc.
Demonstrates creativity in baking production creating variety for each type of baked good
Assists Chef with meal preparation, inventory management, and ordering
Accommodate various diets including vegetarian, vegan, cultural, food allergies, and other specific requests
Ability to safely use, clean, and maintain all kitchen equipment
Able to handle all kinds of food products, including pork and meat products
Supervise, manage, train, mentor and direct other kitchen staff
Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks are completed
Adhere to safety policies and procedures as per task, equipment usage, or PPE requirements
Assist with unloading grocery truck
All other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
Minimum of 2-3 years' experience as Breakfast Cook preferably in a remote environment
Post secondary culinary education considered an asset
Red Seal Baker or Cook certification an asset
Proven organizational, time management and interpersonal skills (including reading, writing and speaking English) in an industrial kitchen environment
Food Safety certification in the province of British Columbia for the duration of employment is required
Advanced (level 2) Food Safety certification is preferred
First Aid Certification is preferred
Ability to work within a multicultural diverse environment
Excellent written and verbal English
Proven experience with inventory and grocery ordering
Physical Requirements
Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch for long periods of time
Repeat the same movements including fast, repetitive movements of fingers, hands, and wrists
Use muscles to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 lbs
Use hands to handle objects and tools

Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice;
