Position Summary

The Electrical Engineer reports to the Manager, Electrical Engineering and contributes to highly visible technology and product development activities within the engineering organization. In consultation with the Design and Product teams you are responsible for electro-mechanical design, development, and testing of novel sensor products. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a high-tech, fast paced, product-development company.


Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Contribute to development and design of next generation technologies and new sensor products
  • Contribute to culture of intellectual property generation
  • Interact with a multi-disciplined team to innovate novel solutions for future products
  • Perform schematics design and multi-layer PCB layout using Altium Designer
  • Perform firmware development, debug, simulations and testing
  • Generate technical documentation for transfer of technology to product development and manufacturing
  • Conduct design reviews and failure modes and effects analysis
  • Source components and interface with supply chain to procure required parts
  • Support team members with documentation including detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials, performance specifications, and test / regulatory related.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

 

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
  • 2-5 years of related experience in Electronics R&D and product development
  • Experience taking new technologies and products from concept to commercialization
  • Experience with fast prototyping and design of complex analog and digital electronic circuits and assemblies
  • Experience with C, C++ & HDL coding languages
  • Proficient with various MCUs and interface standards including UART,  I2C, SPI, USB, and Modbus, USB
  • Knowledge of analog signal transmission protocols such as 4-20mA & 0-10V
  • Knowledge of EtherCAT and Labview are assets
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, with strong attention to details
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a team player
  • Excellent time management skills and commitment to meet deadlines
  • Flexible and willing to work in very fast-paced environment
  • Hands on testing and debugging using electronics lab equipment
  • Hands on soldering and PCBA  rework skills
