Job Summary:
As a House Manager at Vertava Health, you will oversee a sober living environment for adult patients with substance use disorders. Your residents will participate in formal treatment and programming during weekdays, and will attend peer-support groups on some evenings. You will manage a housing environment that supports and reinforces substance-free, responsible living.
You will collaborate with the Sr. Program Manager to establish and enforce community rules, expectations, and accountability. You will help residents invest in a supportive, team-based approach that models collaborative, solution-based problem solving, and authentic communication.
Priority responsibilities include:
Welcome new residents
Greet new and orient new residents
Provide handbook, review and sign any required paperwork
Conduct contraband search
Conduct a urine drug screen and blood alcohol breathalyzer screen
Inventory and store medication per facility policy
Support programming
Schedule wake-up and meals to accommodate program schedule
Transport patients to and from programming (depending on location)
Communicate with program staff if any resident is unable to attend
Observe and report on patient behavior, presentation, safety, hygiene, etc.
Facilitate resident participation in community 12-step meetings or other peer-support groups
Maintain a living environment that promotes recovery
Conduct random drug and alcohol screen per policy
Model and enforce appropriate personal and professional boundaries
Adhere to all policies on medication management
Coordinate patient chores and duties
Organize regular household meetings
Plan pro-social activities and trips
Establish and enforce house rules such as meal times, curfew, accountability, etc.
Promote and protect each patient’s independence, privacy, dignity, and emotional and physical well being
Administrative Duties
Serve as the liaison with property landlord and management
Complete regular documentation per facility policy
Maintain company vehicle(s)
Facilitate patient visits to Urgent Care of scheduled appointments as necessary
Answer phone calls, respond to radio and/or chat communications
Perform regular rounds and inspection of physical environment
Maintain logs of fridge temperatures, AED readiness, Oxygen tank pressure, First Aid kit inventory, expiration dates, etc.
Training and Competencies
Learn about the disease model of addiction and evidence based treatments
Learn and follow company-established policies and procedures, and maintain adherence to established skills and practice according to position and certifications
Remain current with all required trainings and certifications
Receive biweekly supervision
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
Practice respectful, compassionate, supportive communication with patients and colleagues
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Current, valid driver's license
If history of substance abuse is self-disclosed, a minimum of 3 years recovery is required (defined as unbroken abstinence from non-prescribed mood-altering substances)
Experience or interest in addiction treatment and/or behavioral health helpful
Supervisory or house manager experience helpful
Flexibility and aptitude for problem-solving
Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements:
Ability to use hands and fingers, talk or hear
Ability to sit, stand, walk and reach continually. Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch frequently
Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Close vision required to see computer monitor, read documents, and operate copy and fax machine
Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions
