About the Role:
The Evening Hospitality Community Coordinator helps create a welcoming, structured, and supportive environment during evening hours at Promise Haven, a transitional housing program serving families navigating homelessness. This role focuses on hospitality, relationship-building, volunteer engagement, smooth household flow, and fostering a culture of community and belonging as families return from work, school, and daily responsibilities.
This position serves as an important bridge between daytime programming and overnight care by helping create a warm, calm, and connected evening experience. The Coordinator balances hospitality with compassionate accountability while helping families feel respected, supported, and encouraged in their progress.
This role is relational and fast-paced, requiring strong communication skills, organization, emotional intelligence, and the ability to lead with both warmth and consistency.
Schedule
- 5:45 PM – 9:15 PM
- 3–4 evenings per week (including weekends)
- Consistent assigned schedule
- Shift swaps allowed with advance approval and confirmed coverage
Compensation
- $12–$15 per hour, based on experience
- Part-time evening role
What You’ll Do:
Create a Culture of Hospitality & Belonging
- Welcome families, volunteers, donors, and guests with warmth and professionalism
- Help create a home environment where people feel safe, valued, and encouraged
- Foster connection and positive relationships among families, volunteers, and staff
- Model kindness, calmness, and respect in daily interactions
- Help ensure every evening reflects our culture of community and belonging
Encourage Families Through Evening Support
- Support smooth evening check-ins and transitions
- Offer encouragement and positive reinforcement to families in their progress
- Help maintain a peaceful and structured environment that supports growth and stability
- Use trauma-informed approaches when navigating concerns or challenges
- Support parents in maintaining safe supervision of children
Engage Volunteers & Build Community
- Guide evening volunteers serving meals, fellowship, or projects
- Help volunteers feel welcomed, prepared, and connected to the mission
- Record volunteer hours, engagement, and service activity in the database
- Prepare thank-you cards and appreciation outreach that reflects gratitude and belonging
Support Household Operations
- Oversee evening meal flow alongside volunteers
- Help maintain organized, clean, and welcoming common spaces
- Communicate notable concerns, incidents, or needs to overnight staff and leadership
- Report supply or maintenance needs promptly
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
