Our culinary team has been a major pillar in what makes us Atlantic Canada's premier steakhouse. We focus on fresh Island raised products, using one hundred percent Island beef, along with fresh locally sourced produce.
As Head Chef, You Will
The Head Chef will be someone who has gained considerable culinary experience, within a Steakhouse environment. The Head Chef oversees all kitchen operations with strong leadership skills, knowledge of menu development, forecasting, food costing, inventory, and scheduling. The Head Chef will be a driven individual with a passion for fine dining; a passion only surpassed by their desire for developing their team's culinary talent.
- Demonstrate and communicate vision and culinary concepts to all team members
- Create and develop menus, including using products that are grown and sourced locally
- Ensuring team members provide a memorable guest experience through coaching and fostering a positive working culture by reinforcing the MHG Values
- Demonstrate and promote a kitchen culture that revolves around the enjoyment of cooking, food and working as a team
- Demonstrate an influential presence in the kitchen which fosters growth, learning and development
- Work with the Sous Chef, Prep Manager and all team members to meet all projected goals when it comes to cost, waste and labour control
- Oversee ordering of inventory and daily prep work
- Responsible for completing weekly inventory
- Work on the line with team members, maintaining a high level of food quality
- Oversees kitchen operations and cleanliness

- Have a passion for the fine dining and steakhouse culinary experience and the food service industry

What You Bring:
- Applicants should have 1+ years experience in a Steakhouse environment
- Must have experience cooking and leading in a full-service high-volume restaurant
- Previous experience working as a Sous Chef or Head Chef (kitchen leadership role)
- Culinary Arts training or diploma considered an asset
