Program Coordinator - School Age Program - Vincentian Child Development Center (North Hills)

The Program Coordinator of the Vincentian Child Development Center (VCDC) for the School Age Program is responsible for supporting the overall management and leadership of the childcare center’s facility and its operation and is responsible for the planning and supervision of the childcare and children’s activities program in accordance with local and state regulations. In collaboration with the Director, the program coordinator plans, implements and provides ongoing oversight of the activities that promote the social, spiritual, physical and intellectual growth of the children at the Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Assists in the development of programs that support the Early Learning Standards and provides a quality curriculum taking into consideration the needs of each child and family and the goals, objectives, and philosophy of Vincentian Child Development Center.

·         Complies with licensing, health and safety regulations, childcare subsidies and Keystone Stars requirements.

·         Coordinates annual trainings for staff based on current Keystone Stars requirements.

·         Assists with recruitment and enrollment/registration of new clients/families.

·         Assists with the recruitment and hiring process including but not limited to interviewing potential candidates, explaining hiring process/paperwork to new recruits, and providing new staff orientation.

·         Monitors staff levels throughout the day and ensures that staff-child ratios are met at all times to ensure appropriate supervision.

·         Coordinates with staff and the Director to assure that the children enrolled, and their families receive services from other agencies as needed.

·         Creates meaningful opportunities for parents to be involved with the program that enhance relationships and encourage positive parenting techniques.

·         Assists in the completion of tasks associated with finances including but not limited to monthly billing, tuition payments, and bank deposits.

·         Assists in the development and maintenance of the parent handbook, facility forms and documents, and staff files.

·         Communicates effectively through parent handbooks, newsletters and correspondence with families.

·         Resolves day-to-day issues relating to staff, student attendance, facilities management and requisitions.

·         Supervises, coaches and encourages staff to promote employee development.

·         Assists in the development and maintenance of current, accurate and confidential client files that include health, emergency contact, and developmental records. 

·         Assists in the management of the maintenance and cleaning of the building, grounds, playground, classrooms and equipment to provide a safe and secure environment.

·         Assists with the planning and implementation of monthly Lead Caregiver and staff meetings.

·         Reports all cases of suspected child abuse to Department of Social Services.

·         Assists in the planning of nutritional meal and snack menus.

·         Supports staff as necessary when discussing children’s progress and development with parents/guardians.

·         Assists in the maintenance and compliance of Health and Safety policies and procedures.

·         Represents the Center at community functions and ensures the Center maintains an active presence in the community.

·         Determines closures due to inclement weather and contacts appropriate sources that will notify the staff and families in collaboration with the Director and/or in the Director’s absence.

·         Assists in the planning of special events including holiday celebrations, intergenerational events, cultural awareness celebrations, and fundraising activities.

·         Assists in the completion of staff performance evaluations.

·         Performs all other duties necessary to advance the philosophy and goals of the program as deemed by the Director of Vincentian Child Development Center.




The employee must meet the following minimum requirements:


·         An associate degree from an accredited college or university


·         Two years supervisory experience in the field of early childhood education


·         Credit hours in early childhood education, preferred
