Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Campaign Development Officer (Central Services) will identify, plan, and implement revenue generation strategies for fundraising priorities within the $10k – $50K level, consistent with overall revenue generation and campaign plans, partnerships, and events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working in consultation with the Chief Development Officer and Campaign Development Team in Central Services in developing a plan consistent with the overall campaign and fundraising plans to achieve assigned fundraising targets
  • Identifying and executing prospect strategies for solicitation of donors at the $10K and above level as well as special appeals (such as The Mustard Seed Camp-Out, Galas, etc.) and third-party opportunities
  • Building and stewarding philanthropic relations with individuals, foundations and corporations in the communities served by the college, to contribute to achievement of fundraising targets
  • Working with City Dev., administrative and support staff in prospect research and developing proposals and other solicitation documents
  • Developing case statements, call plans, briefing notes and proposals as required for use in fundraising strategy, volunteer enlistment, gift cultivation and solicitation, and in overall fundraising awareness activities
  • Strategizing plans to move donors through the various stages of gift consideration and towards a contribution of significant support for corporate partnership and initiatives
  • Developing sponsorship and partnership packages
  • Providing regular briefings on assigned areas of campaigns and other fundraising projects
  • Partnering with Development Officers to manage prospect pool based on fundraising priorities and projects for city campaigns (Kamloops, Medicine Hat, Calgary and Red Deer)
  • Collaborating with BO’s, Marketing and Campaign Team
  • Communicating regularly with other staff members in Campaign Development and Fund Development to coordinate the management of prospects and to ensure the prospect pipeline is utilized for fundraising success
  • Developing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of TMS’ fundraising priorities and needs, in order to match the interests and needs of prospective donor
  • Delivery of Impact reporting for campaign and fundraising initiatives

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Postsecondary education in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to, Fundraising, Business, Marketing, or Communications
  • Accreditation as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), or working towards designation, is nice to have.
  • 5-8 years’ experience of professional major gift / campaign fundraising
  • Experience in prospect identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation
  • Demonstrated ability in building philanthropic relations with individuals, foundations and corporations
  • Experience in writing various gift proposals and gift agreement development
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues as well as a wide range of constituents including donors, senior management, board members, community groups, and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability with problem-solving, analysis and displaying creativity
  • Experience in demonstrating confidentiality, objectivity, political awareness, planning, business acumen and financial accountability
  • Demonstrated evidence of humility, team player, integrity, honesty, tact and discretion
  • Advanced computer skills with demonstrated knowledge in Microsoft Suite (Word / Excel) and donor database, preferably Raiser’s Edge
  • Professional communication skills (visual, verbal, public speaking and written)
  • Excellent public relations and networking skills with experience in conducting public

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Role will require work on evenings and weekends for events and peak fundraising seasons as scheduled
  • Moderate physical effort required to successfully accomplish job functions such as keyboarding to word process documents and data entry into databases extended computer use, sitting, reaching, walking, standing, and minimal lifting
  • Office setting: onsite/offsite Mustard Seed location
  • Mental effort: moderate, periods of high-volume workload
  • Valid Driver’s License (Class 5) and use of personal vehicle is required
  • Occasional travel to Central Services, Calgary, AB and other TMS locations as required

  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle. Candidate must have and maintain valid driver’s licence and will need to consent to a driver’s abstract request.
