The VISTA will build a strategy to connect targeted populations to high quality early childhood education and childcare programming. They will develop community pop up educational workshops to demonstrate positive early education and childcare development. The VISTA will research and understand LVCC’s strategies and activities on family engagement and document best practices on how this contributes to a child’s educational success. They will create strategies and recommendations on how to improve and effectively support site-based family involvement initiatives work with staff to develop a plan for implementation. To continue building connection to resources to families, the VISTA will maintain the resources guide for Allentown and develop one for Carbon County to be distributed.

All United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley AmeriCorps VISTA assignments will expand capacity towards population level goals across the region. UWGLV strives to create population level change in areas of education, food access, healthy aging and emergency services to ensure individuals who experience crisis have the supports they need to rebound. The UWGLV VISTA project focuses on strengthening the networks of providers that deliver services to address concerns and through working with UWGLV staff they support the efforts across all four-issue areas.
