We are currently seeking a Materials-Next-Life Manager to join our team in Canada. Based out of Emterra Group’s head office in Oakville, Ontario, this role will report to the Vice President of Materials Marketing. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the marketing and sales of commodities produced, including paper, paper products, glass, plastics, and metals, from our recycling operations across Canada and Michigan.

This position is entails hybrid work. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid model, balancing collaboration in the office and virtual work.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to maximize the value of our commodities and increase market share.
  • Identify new markets and customers for our commodities and third-party suppliers’ commodities.
  • Grow relationships with suppliers, buyers, and brokers in the commodities market.
  • Manage the pricing and sale of our commodities in accordance with market conditions.
  • Monitor market trends, market indices, and make recommendations for changes to our marketing strategies.
  • Analyze and report on market trends, pricing, and demand for our commodities.
  • Collaborate with our recycling operations team to ensure the quality and consistency of our commodities meet buyers’ requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in the commodities market.
  • Participate in industry events and conferences to promote our commodities and build our brand.
  • Participate in municipal or industrial, commercial, and institutional RFPs and tenders.
  • Supervise department staff, including customer service representatives and logistics coordinators.
  • Visit MRFs regularly to perform quality inspections and provide guidance to MRF staff across Canada and Michigan.
  • Master the company’s material management software.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commodities marketing and sales in the recycling or scrap industries an asset.
  • Logistic experience an asset.
  • Skillful in negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of commodities markets and trading.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Business acumen in contract and risk management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
