UWGLV/Lehigh County AmeriCorps Family Navigator-Summer Opportunity
Do you have a passion for creating connections and finding resources for families and individuals? United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley is seeking individuals to serve as AmeriCorps members here in the Lehigh Valley.
The AmeriCorps Family Navigator will support COVID-19
response and its substantial impact on children and families. The goal of the Family Navigator is to meet an “early
detection – early treatment” model, more preventative in nature for the child
welfare system and more responsive in nature for the children’s mental health
system. The navigator will receive
referrals directly from OCYS and meet with families to explore family needs related
to basic need support, as well as child behavioral health concerns. The navigator will follow the family from
assessment of need to service linkage to monitoring and support to help the
family access and follow through with treatment and supports. The goal is to address the increase in child
and family needs to prevent worsening of symptoms and deeper involvement with
the child welfare system.
An AmeriCorps assignment is a service position that is grant funded and lasts
for one year. The service
term will begin ASAP and end in late September 2022. Members will serve approximately 20-30
hours per week.
AmeriCorps members earn a living stipend based on their service hours and upon successful completion of their term, they are eligible for an educational award that can be applied toward student loans or further educational expenses.
STIPEND $2,823
