GENERAL PURPOSE

The Landscape Project Engineer assists and supports the Field Superintendents & Landscape Project Manager with project and client needs. Communicates & Assists the Field Crews (Superintendents & Foreman) as well as the Project Manager to facilitate accurate & timely reporting and tracking of projects, company assets, and material suppliers / subcontractors. Key responsibilities include daily budget tracking, change order facilitation, material and subcontractor scheduling, field log review and aggregation, and delivery of daily reporting to Landscape Project Manager. Must have construction management experience and have strong computer / data analytic and critical thinking skills. Must be self-motivated, data & detail oriented, communicative (Verbal and Written) and a team player.

DAYS/HOURS

This is a full-time, salaried-exempt position, generally Monday to Friday. During the busy season (April to December) expect some weekends. This position will be 90% in the office with the potential need to visit projects at the direction of the Landscape Project Manager.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets utilizing various software for daily review and revision of crew field logs.
  • Collect and code project cost documents and continually monitor and update the budget to reflect changes in work.
  • Coordinate logistics with purchasing team for delivery of material, and schedule subcontractors.
  • Review and compile data based on field logs and GPS of Company Vehicles.
  • Work with superintendents and project manager to ensure that all information provided by field staff daily is accurate and timely.
  • Assist Project Manager in coordinating project equipment and manpower.
  • Work with Estimating & Pre-Construction Staff to ensure that Change Orders are issued accurately and timely.
  • Assist with monthly project billings by aggregating completed tasks & working with billing team to get invoices in hands of clients.
  • Assist in identification and communication surrounding potential change orders & scope outside of contract work.
  • Ensure that time cards for all employees are complete and accurately reflect hours worked.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Evaluate job margins and increase billing of change orders by 10%.
  • Improve field supervisors’ production, accuracy and verification of field logs.
  • Increase accuracy and timeliness of field log entry and project information from field staff.
  • Cut down on un-productive labor with the implementation and reinforcement of GPS vs Field Log Review by 10%
  • Improve the landscape purchase requisition process reducing errors by 20%.
  • Develop a daily system to review field logs, work with management and field staff and increase accuracy and tracking to 100%.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Abilities – Motivated self-starter with demonstrated ability to work both independently and with others in a team environment.

Education –High school diploma or GED required. Construction Management degree preferred but not required. Some capacity of construction management work required, in either PE or PM roll.

Experience – Three years of construction experience in either Landscape Construction or Construction Management.

Skills – Exhibit a strong regard for organizing and prioritizing, as well as an ability to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job may require working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain or snow.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to walk/stand on concrete for prolonged periods of time.

· Physical Strength; hand eye coordination and endurance.

· Ability to lift, pull, push up to 50+ lbs.

· Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time.

· Climbing stairs and ladders; tolerate heights up to 15 ft.
