Wheel Lift Driver
A Wheel Lift Driver is responsible for safely towing, transporting, and recovering vehicles using a wheel lift tow truck. This position requires operating towing equipment, responding to service calls, assisting stranded motorists, and ensuring vehicles are transported without damage. The driver must follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures while providing professional and courteous customer service.
The Wheel Lift Driver must demonstrate safe and efficient operation of towing equipment while delivering professional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role requires strong driving skills, knowledge of towing and vehicle recovery procedures, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently under varying conditions. The driver must effectively communicate with customers, dispatch personnel, and law enforcement agencies while maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Core competencies include safety awareness, customer service, problem solving, mechanical aptitude, time management, reliability, adaptability, teamwork, and accountability. The ability to remain calm under pressure, make informed decisions, and protect both customer vehicles and company assets is essential to achieving operational and service goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Previous towing, transportation, commercial driving, roadside assistance, automotive, or related experience preferred.
- Experience operating wheel lift tow trucks and vehicle recovery equipment is a plus.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required based on vehicle classification and state regulations.
- Must meet company and insurance carrier eligibility requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required towing, recovery, or certification credentials. DCJS certification requirements must be met based on location.
