IT Technical Specialist
Department: Finance

The IT Technical Specialist is both a strategic thinker and an individual contributor. The position continuously scans the working environment to gauge how well the Healing Lodge's electronic systems are meeting the needs of its staff and resident. To that end, the Specialist may recommend adoption of new technological solutions and systems. The Specialist also serves as the liaison with contractors who are developing new systems and applications for the Lodge. Finally, the Specialist serves as frontline support for issues that may not rise to a level requiring a helpdesk ticket with a contracted vendor. The combination of project management and systems analysis with an insider's eye for the needs of the Healing Lodge allows the Healing Lodge to receive the optimal benefit from its electronic systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Works closely with the Healing Lodge's outside IT Management Provider in caring out the many duties and responsibilities. Works closely with the Provider to maintain HIPAA compliance.
2. Administer, update, and maintain Windows and servers as well as virtual environment.
3. Manage enterprise applications including Office 365, Active Directory and Virus Protection.
4. Troubleshoots, identifies, and resolves problems affecting any IT related system.
5. Aide in the continual development of the Cyber Security Initiative and investigation of any security incidents.
6. Provides technical support and workstation maintenance to end users.
7. Ensures all data backup routines are sufficient and functioning.
8. Participate in the installation, testing, and support of application software.
9. Studies existing data systems to evaluate effectiveness and develops new systems or modifies existing systems to improve production or workflow.
10. Assists in electronic database systems to include setting up user access rights, training of staff on EHR. EMR, electronic database management systems, board software app, telephone and cellular phones utilized in performing day to day business activities.
11. Query databases to provide data and reports to other departments.
12. Updating and maintaining digital signage information
13. Operates with considerable latitude for un-reviewed action and/or decision-making. May recommend major changes in procedures or systems, where necessary.
14. Work with users to define system requirements and troubleshoot and resolve problems.
15. Install, configure, and upgrade desktop hardware and peripherals.
16. Document computer problems and resolutions for future reference.
17. Utilizes emotional intelligence by remaining calm, steady and professional in Communications with others.
18. Administrating and facilitating training staff on how to effectively operate the use of technology hardware, software and applications.
19. Manage and assist with the development of the TEMA Mobile Aftercare Application
20. Tracks projects, delivery dates and work production to ensure reports to governing entities are prepared and submitted on time utilizing e-project task tracking software.
21. Ability to utilize scripting methods to automate processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree or greater in public or healthcare administration, business management, project management, leadership, computer science, information systems management, or related degree plusfive years advanced experience which demonstrates the ability to successfully performed the duties outlined; or
2. Associate degree or greater in public or healthcare administration, business management, project management, leadership, computer science, information systems management, or related degree plus a minimum of seven years advanced work experience which demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties outlined.
Knowledge and Abilities Required:
1. Possess high level interest, engagement and direct work experience and proficiency in computer operations & software applications in a healthcare setting and conducting staff user training. Systems include EHR, EMR, e-task tracking systems, project management, board meeting app, scheduler, behavioral health gamification apps, etc.
2. Must be able and willing to work equally well in a team environment or one-on-one.
3. Ability to communicate technical guidance and instruction to a wide variety of users in understandable[e terms.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of vendors and outside support.
5. Extensive experience managing virtual server environments.
6. Working knowledge of networking and firewalls.
7. Experience working with Web technologies, including Web Services.
8. Extensive Windows server implementation and administration experience.
9. Experience with Office 365, SQL Server, and Linux preferred.
10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
11. Knowledge of the operations and unique needs of Youth Residential Treatment centers, substance abuse addiction and behavioral health treatment services is highly beneficial.
12. Proficiency and decisiveness in providing administrative support involving preparing technical reports, research various topics, create work task matrix, save and retrieve electronic/ hardcopy records for easy retrieval.
13. Consistently maintain professional effective trust-based relationships with staff and visitors and make it real by demonstrating behavior and attitude that instill a positive and supportive workplace environment.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Supervisory Controls and Published Guidance:
1. The work performed is not closely supervised but is instead measured by the success of its outcomes and deliverables.
2. The job requires the regular exercise of independent judgement and discretion for both daily assignments and long-term projects.
3. Little to no published guidance exists for long-term projects, while some may exist for day-to-day troubleshooting operations.
Environment and Physical Demands:
1. Job is primarily moderately active in nature performed in a typical office setting.
2. Primary functions require physical ability to work in an office setting, operate and repair office and computer equipment, and a variety of SmartWare applications.
3. Continuous sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to manipulate keyboard, equipment controls, and other office and computer equipment; pinch grasp to manipulate writing utensils.
4. See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate equipment.
