Cellarman
Attention beer lovers, Wachusett Brewing Company, a Top 50 craft brewery, located in Westminster, MA has an immediate opening for a full-time third shift Cellar Operator. This position may at times require some 12-hour days and is an hourly position eligible for our amazing benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD, LTD, 401k, two-weeks’ vacation and plenty of delicious free beer.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Clean and sanitize fermentation vessels, bright beer tanks, centrifuge, filter, processing piping & hoses, and other required processing equipment
· Manage and execute daily yeast removals and dry hopping
· Blend and carbonate non-beer beverages
· Keep all work areas clean
· Identify mature beers for processing into a package ready condition in coordination with production manager
· Stabilize, filter and carbonate of finished beer
· Attend to various quality checkpoints and paperwork.
· Participate in all maintenance duties for the centrifuge and filter press
· Execute and adhere to all Company policies and procedures in a safe and efficient manner
· Contribute to and participate in all small-scale innovation projects
· Other duties, as requested by the brewing leadership team
· Sample product, attend beer events or represent the company at industry functions
Other Requirements:
· Follow proper safety procedures and quality control guidelines
· Adhere to proper cleaning procedures for filters, brite tanks and fermenters
· Practice proper yeast management
· Understand basic brewing skills
· Keep the brewhouse clean and organized
· Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed
Physical Requirements:
· Consistently lift and carry 10 pounds and occasionally lift and carry 70 pounds to chest height
· Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, lifting, kneeling and reaching
· Must be able to stand for an entire 8-hour shift
· Consistently able to use repetitive hand and wrist motion
· Work with hot, cold and hazardous equipment and materials in a noisy, wet extreme temperature environment
· Climb stairs several times a day
· Frequent washing of hands
Experience, Skills, Education
· Prior Brewhouse experience preferred
· Ability to think critically, follow directions and communicate effectively
· Writing and math skills to accurately complete a dilution calculation, volume, flow, density, weight, length, pressure and other unit conversions, calculate beer volumes/losses and alcohol content
· High school or equivalent
