Field Applications Engineer


**This position is based at our San Jose, CA (U.S.) office.**

Job Summary

As a Field Application Engineer, you will be one of the key players in the Product Management supporting Semiconductor Sales team. You drive demand creation, identify customer’s High Value Problems (HVP), provide technical skills & support to PHO’s sales staff and will work with Product Managers about technical issues and future roadmap of your customer(s). We rely on you to deliver the PHO value message in a persuasive and accurate manner, in order to increase our market share.

As an Applications Engineer you will drive design wins for PHO’s temperature and position sensor products, identify opportunities, recommend appropriate solutions leveraging Photon standard products, support customer evaluations, and resolve any product issues that may arise in the customer's system.



  • Accountable to drive design wins
  • Lead proof of concept, solution design, and demonstrations
  • Synthesize customer and competitive insights to improve product definition and roadmaps
  • Promote PHO products to customers to ensure early involvement in the customer’s technology roadmap and timely flow of information to all necessary parties within PHO and customer
  • Qualify sales opportunities in terms of customer technical requirements and establishes PHO’s value proposition/position relative to the competition
  • Qualify the value of PHO’s products (strengths versus competitive products) and quantifies the technical benefits derived from choosing PHO
  • Successfully build relationships with sales team members, business lines, partners and customers in support of sales team objectives

Qualifications / Specific Knowledge / Skills

  • MS in Electrical/Computer Science/Computer Engineering
  • 4-5 years of experience in semiconductor or other relevant industries
  • Ability to maintain technical expertise/competence with the ever-changing technology
  • Ability to read, understand and review schematics and provide design recommendations is highly desired
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Willingness to engage with customers in both pre-sales and post-sales support
  • Well organized and good at time management
  • Enthusiastic, creative and desire to learn about business and technical topics
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player, and willing to help where needed within scope of the role
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated and self-driven
  • Willing to learn new processes and tools
  • Willing to travel (majority domestic) and at times with little notice
  • Open to working at Camarillo facility
