Aquatics Coordinator

Sheridan, Wyoming Full-time $19.33-$21.75/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  Under the guidance and supervision of the Aquatic Director, the Aquatic Coordinator is responsible for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all patrons and staff within the Y; with an emphasis in the aquatics area.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 20 years of age
  • Lifeguard Certification
  • Basic knowledge of swim instruction
  • Lifeguard Instructor Certification within one year of hire date.
  • CPO Certification within 1 year of hire date.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

All Aquatics Coordinators are expected to fulfill the following functions:

  • Support hourly staff and volunteers
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe environment throughout all program areas including closets and other storage units.
  • Assist in hiring, scheduling, developing and evaluating aquatic staff 
  • Manage cleanliness, safety and maintenance of all pool equipment and facilities including the Gold Centers
  • Assist in training and coaching aquatic hourly staff
  • Assist in teaching Adult Swim lessons as needed
  • Assist in other program areas as able throughout the Y
  • Participate in the team hiring process
  • Monitor and address need for replacement equipment and research equipment products on the market
  • Check chemicals and take readings daily in the pump room, backwash, and replace strainer baskets as needed.

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities, Aquatic Coordinators will:

  • Pursue/participate in ongoing training
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-services
  • Assist in fundraising activities and special volunteer events
  • Cross-train in a variety of opportunities within and among departments
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
  • Attend required abuse risk management training.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.


WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
