We are seeking a Couplers Assembly team member to support our manufacturing operations in Bristol, Virginia.
This hands-on manufacturing position is responsible for assembling components and finished products used in industrial equipment. The position requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow drawings, diagrams, schematics, and detailed work instructions.
The successful candidate will work with hand, bench, and shop tools to assemble, inspect, adjust, and troubleshoot components while maintaining company quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble components and finished products according to established specifications, drawings, diagrams, schematics, and work instructions.
- Install mechanical and electronic components as required throughout the assembly process.
- Read and interpret applicable blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and assembly instructions.
- Use appropriate hand tools, bench tools, shop tools, measuring devices, and testing instruments.
- Inspect assembled components and identify potential defects or problems.
- Troubleshoot assembly and component issues using appropriate measuring and testing equipment.
- Disassemble components or devices when necessary to identify or replace defective parts.
- Adjust functional parts, devices, and control components using appropriate tools.
- Verify work for accuracy and quality throughout the assembly process.
- Follow established production, quality, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow instructions from the Group Leader, supervisor, or other designated leadership.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a production team.
- Communicate production, quality, equipment, or safety concerns to appropriate leadership.
- Assist with other production or manufacturing activities as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with mechanical components and assemblies.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, diagrams, schematics, and/or blueprints.
- Ability to safely use applicable hand, bench, and shop tools.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and established procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, quality work.
- Ability to identify problems and use appropriate judgment when troubleshooting routine assembly issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Ability to work independently with appropriate direction and as part of a team.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) to three (3) years of mechanical assembly, manufacturing, production, maintenance, technician, or related experience.
- Previous experience reading blueprints or technical drawings.
- Previous experience using precision measuring or testing instruments.
- Experience assembling mechanical and/or electronic components.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, onsite position in a manufacturing environment. The employee must be available during established work hours.
Overtime may be required based on production and business needs. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
Work Environment
This position operates in an active manufacturing environment. Employees may work around production equipment, machinery, tools, moving components, noise, and other conditions commonly associated with manufacturing operations.
Employees are required to follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing applicable job duties or working in designated areas.
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements described below are representative of those generally necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
The position may require prolonged periods of standing and/or walking and may require sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and using hands to handle tools, parts, and equipment.
The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
The position requires the visual abilities necessary to safely and accurately perform assembly and inspection duties, which may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color differentiation when job-related, and the ability to adjust focus.
