Technical Services Director - Brentwood


The Brentwood Baptist Church Technical Services Director is responsible to the church, under the direction of the Brentwood Media Director, for coordinating all aspects of the live production needs of all events outside of Sunday morning services. Working closely with the Brentwood Media Director, this role interfaces with church ministry representatives, outside organizations, and production contract employees to provide effective and efficient pre-production support and event production execution for events large and small.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:

·         Managing the online tech request system, including triaging new requests, and keeping the tech request calendar up to date with information about all upcoming events.

·         Managing the approval of events requiring tech support in the eSpace building management system.

·         Event pre-production planning with event coordinators via email, phone, or in-person meetings.

·         Scheduling volunteers and/or hiring contract production personnel to provide tech support for events.

·         Managing setups and teardowns of classroom A/V used by weekly groups, classes, and meetings.

·         Providing expertise and training to church ministries on how to best utilize technology available to them.

·         Acting as the primary media staff liaison to the volunteer production teams for Kids, Students, Kairos, Chinese, Hispanic, and Deaf ministries.

·         Oversight of building wide equipment storage and organizational systems, including asset management.

·         Assisting with the setup and preparation for Sunday services, including stage setups, console prep, line checks, and computer prep.

·         Being on site during the Sunday morning services to both be on call for tech services needs, as well as assisting with worship services as needed.

·         Working closely with the Brentwood campus events coordinator, revising and regularly updating the Media event production policy.

·         Building a competent, trained, and available team of volunteer and part-time/contract event technical staff.

·         Performing routine preventative maintenance on production equipment, in conjunction with the campus media director.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:

·         Assisting with organization-wide production needs, such as Quarterly Staff Meetings at other campuses.

·         Attending occasional Brentwood campus leadership meetings and worship planning meetings.

·         Participating regularly in self-development opportunities.

·         Being a resource to other Media staff organization-wide on best practices of event pre-production, equipment organization, and asset management.

·         Completing other duties as assigned by supervisor.

·         Strong working knowledge of audio, video, lighting, and related live production systems, including the following fundamentals:

           o   Audio routing, signal flow, gain structure, effects, and dynamics

           o   Video formats and format conversion, and camera theory

           o   Lighting programming and data distribution

·         Working knowledge of video production, including non-linear editing software

·         Strong administrative and organizational skills

·         Strong interpersonal communication skills




·         Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in the field of live production technology (preferred) or studio production

·         2 years’ experience as a key church production volunteer, church production staff, or event venue staff
