Job Description


Job Title: Vice President of Retail Services

Department: Administration

Reports To: Executive Vice President

Job Summary:
Under guidance from the President this position provides oversight, vision,
direction and leadership to all retail services of the Waterfront Rescue Mission.
Performs all reasonably related duties and serves as a member of the Executive
Leadership Team.

Education/Experience: Masters Degree and/or five years related experience and/or training,
preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid state
driver’s license and be insurable by the WRM insurance carrier.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software systems. Must possess
strong organizational and time management skills. Must possess good communication and
negotiation skills. Must have the ability to lead, plan and manage change. Must exercise
initiative and have the ability to set priorities. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and
interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or
governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure
manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of
managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be willing to sign the Waterfront
Rescue Mission’s Statement of Faith.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates the Mission and Core Values of the Waterfront Rescue Mission (WRM) in all
job functions and day to day activities

Prepares quarterly and annual strategic plans and ensures proper and timely execution
using all available company resources.

Manage profit and loss statement by store and company in order to maximize net profit
performance.

Develop marketing programs with 3rd party vendors to maximize top line sales performance.

Develop creative revenue sources in order to facilitate long term sales and net profit growth.

Establishes operational policy and procedures and ensures adherence to all applicable
organizational policies.

Sets operational and/or performance goals for each store which are achievable and tied to
strategic planning.

Identifies staff and budget needs in retail services and assists with the development of the
retail budget. Prepares annual retail budget pertaining to revenues, expenses and net profit.
Provides budget revision for Board of Directors approval.

Communicate monthly updates on retail matters.

Ensure Director of Retail is executing according to outlines strategic initiatives.

Ensures that all staff models the values and principles of the mission and the Christian faith.

Ensures outcomes of all retail services as pertains to retail customers and services.

Establishes and monitors performance reporting systems.

Responsible for the professional leadership development of all staff.

Approves expenses and store purchase orders over assigned threshold amount.

Develops and conducts staff training as needed.

Supervises, educates and trains Managers who supervise the employees in the Retail
Business and IT Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and
evaluation of the retail business. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring employees;
appraising the performance of direct reports, providing appropriate rewards and discipline as
needed; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Some travel may be necessary for training & temporary duty.

Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other Mission management.

Leadership Responsibilities:
Supervises, educates and trains Managers who supervise the employees in the Retail Business
and IT Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of
these units. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's
policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring employees;
appraising the performance of direct reports, providing appropriate rewards and discipline as
needed; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to
manipulate; reach with hands and arms and to speak and listen. The employee must frequently
