Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing, Communications & Media, the Specialist, Social Media plays a key role in shaping and delivering Spark’s content across platforms, channels, and communities. This role supports the development and execution of Spark’s annual marketing plan through compelling storytelling, content creation, community engagement, and social-first thinking.

This position is rooted in content across platforms, from social media and video to written brand communications, community storytelling, and influencer content. The successful candidate is both strategic and hands-on: someone who loves creating, experimenting, tracking performance, and responding in real time to cultural moments and audience behaviour.

You’re comfortable behind and in front of the camera, can turn ideas into engaging Reels, Shorts, posts, and captions, and understand how content supports brand, events, ticketing, memberships, and visitation. You’re also a strong writer who can support on-brand communications across channels and collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners.

If you love being part of the action, are energized by engagement and growth, and don’t mind getting hands-on with science experiments, or hopping into a costume for content, this role is for you!

This role involves relationship-building internally and externally to help tell Spark’s story, grow community, and engage ever-expanding audiences, supporting Spark’s goal of becoming one of the world’s most worth-visiting science centres.
