Maintenance Technician - Central Campus

San Antonio, TX

JOB SUMMARY

Assists the Facilities Department in performance of all minor in-house maintenance, repair, preventative and clean-up tasks for the facilities and grounds in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, furniture construction; is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in general maintenance areas; has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and tools necessary to do minor maintenance jobs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Receives daily assigned maintenance repair tasks and investigates requests for the development of the bill of materials
  • Monitors condition of building and grounds and reports any required maintenance/repair projects
  • Assists in maintaining the tool and equipment storage area
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all necessary systems and equipment, as assigned by the Director of Facilities
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
  • Perform general repairs that do not require specialized technician i.e. repairing drywall, painting and repairing doors and other building fixtures to include putting together furniture for offices
  • Order supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance
  • Attend and work CBC events as needed

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a regular full-time position. Days and hours of work depend on operational needs of the church.  Evening, weekend and holiday duties are needed as job duties demand.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:

  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms
  • Must be able to frequently stand and or walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to move about inside and outside the building to perform a variety of tasks
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
  • Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 100 pounds
  • Frequently reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend and crawl in awkward spaces
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Related experience preferred
  • At least one year of on-the-job training experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in a variety of settings to include, outside, office and technical settings where the work and general environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are minimal.
