Development Manager – Database and Annual Fund


Function – Scope Statement:

The Development Manager – Database and Annual Fund will uphold the critical role of maintaining the Raiser’s Edge donor database and tracking all revenue for the development department. The Database Manager is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the organization’s Raiser’s Edge database. In addition to managing the database, the Development Manager will also oversee the Annual Fund by developing and implementing a fundraising plan focused on donors who give $999 or less to the organization. The Development Manager will support, implement and manage key aspects of the campaign such as annual giving, donor cultivation and solicitation, stewardship, direct mail and gift renewals. Responsible for meeting annual revenue targets and working directly with the Senior Director of Development to develop and execute a comprehensive annual fund strategy.


Major Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

Raiser’s Edge Database Management:

·         Act as Raiser’s Edge Database Administrator for the organization.

·         Manage Raiser’s Edge donor database, including maintenance, user accounts, gift entry, reporting, queries, and data clean-up projects with the goal of providing current, consistent and accurate data.

·         Develop and deliver clear and accurate reporting and tracking vehicles and instructions for reports and dashboards.

·         Produce all mailing lists from Raiser’s Edge database for mailings such as solicitations and invitations.

·         Process and track all pledges and invoices.

·         Generate all acknowledgement letters to donors.

·         Reconcile Raiser’s Edge revenue with Finance revenue on a weekly and monthly basis.


Annual Fund

·         Manage, cultivate and steward all donors from direct mail campaigns, Giving Tuesday and any donor who gives $999 or less.

·         Create a comprehensive Annual Fund campaign that includes direct mail and direct mail pieces.

·         Create a stewardship plan for donors who give $999 or less.

·         Understand and articulate the mission, objectives, policies, programs, procedures, principles and practices of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston.


Additional Responsibilities

·         Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

·         A minimum of five years of Raiser’s Edge database management.

·         A minimum of 2 years of small dollar fundraising experience

·         Excellent recordkeeping skills, writing, communications and interpersonal skills.

·         The ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.

·         Extremely organized, detail oriented and able to keep accurate records.

·         Ability to gather and analyze data.

·         Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Raiser’s Edge.

·         Goal oriented with the ability to work independently and execute successful projects

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.



Internal:  Maintain close, daily contact with the Development team to exchange information, seek and give assistance, consultation and direction. Maintains contact with financial staff and support staff.  


External:  Maintain contact with community partners, individuals and corporate leaders, board and volunteers to seek financial support and provide information regarding club activities and needs.
