The Town of Cohasset is seeking an organized, dependable, and welcoming Kitchen Manager to support meal services of the Elder Affairs Department at Willcutt Commons. This position manages daily kitchen operations, meal preparation, food and equipment inventory, and compliance with applicable health, safety, and sanitation requirements. This position mainly supports lunch, and occasionally evening dinner events.

The Kitchen Manager works closely with the Director of Elder Affairs and leads food-service volunteers and cleanup crews. The successful candidate will be comfortable preparing meals for groups of varying sizes, coordinating volunteers, managing multiple priorities, and creating a positive environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate meal planning, recipes, ingredients, food purchases, and preparation.
  • Prepare and cook meals for groups ranging from approximately 5 to 100 guests.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of food, supplies, dishes, containers, and kitchen equipment.
  • Schedule, train, and oversee volunteer cooks, food-service volunteers, and cleanup crews.
  • Ensure compliance with Board of Health requirements and all applicable food-safety and sanitation standards.
  • Monitor meal cleanup and ensure dishes, utensils, and kitchen areas are properly cleaned.
  • Track ServSafe certifications and coordinate required training for employees and volunteers.
  • Work with the Director of Elder Affairs to oversee the food and kitchen budget.
  • Coordinate routine equipment maintenance, deep cleaning, and kitchen upkeep.
  • Coordinate outside vendors using the kitchen beyond regular dining operations.
  • Foster a welcoming, organized, and collaborative kitchen environment.
Minimum Qualifications

Experience working in a dining room or kitchen is required. Candidates must possess, or obtain within six months of employment, current CPR and ServSafe certifications. The position requires the ability to safely lift and carry food supplies and kitchen equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Commercial kitchen experience is preferred. Previous experience supervising, scheduling, or working with volunteers is a plus.

Schedule and Compensation

This is a non-union position scheduled for 32 hours per week and classified at Grade A1 ($28.61 - $34.19), with an expected starting rate of $28.61. The position reports to the Director of Elder Affairs.
