Summary of Responsibilities:
The Homemaker is responsible for providing educational programs on home management (menu planning, grocery shopping, preparing food, cooking, cleaning and/or doing laundry, etc), life skills (developing a budget for the household, paying bills, etc.) and parenting to individuals and families living in Tioga County who are receiving Children and Youth Case management services. The Homemaker assesses the home upon each visit and can make recommendations for changes to the family’s plan as needed. Duties are conducted in accordance with all existing policies, procedures, and regulations and in accord with the Mission and Values of the Company.
q Provide home visits to a caseload of up to 30 families
q Assist in the identification of the family’s goals and participate in developing the Family Service Plan.
q Assist the family to access and utilize all available and appropriate community resources in the fulfillment of goals listed in the Family Service Plan.
q Assist the family to function as a cohesive unit so that each person within the family experiences a safe, stable, healthy living environment.
q Monitor and document progress made by the families in achieving the goals set forth in their Family Service Plan.
q Maintain progress notes, mileage reports, and other reporting forms accurately and completely as required by policies and procedures.
q Provide supervised visitation and/or client transportation as assigned.
q Attend and testify at Court Hearings with the case management staff concerning assigned families when requested.
q Maintain billable time hours per established department standards.
q Assume full responsibility for the operation of the home and care of the children during the absence and incapacity of the parents. This could result in a substantial amount of after-hours work
q Attend weekly supervision and conference with the Program Coordinator
q Attend meetings and staffings regarding assigned families as requested.
q Participate in all orientation, in-service training as required by the Department
q All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (education, experience, etc.)
q A high school diploma and 12 semester credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other social science and two years’ direct care experience in public or private human services.
q A high school diploma and five years of direct care experience in public or private human services.
q Demonstrated computer skills to include word processing and spreadsheet.
q Demonstrated oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, state, county, and other elected officials, providers, judges, courts, advocates, staff, consultants and consumers and their families.
Required Licenses, Certificates or Knowledge:
q Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record check
q Knowledge of most current computer technology
q Medical screening clearance
q Act 33 and Act 34 clearances
q FBI Fingerprint clearance
q Social Security Card
q Immigration and naturalization (I-9) clearance
q In office work performing concurrent varied tasks
q Regular travel throughout the county.
Safety Hazards of the Job:
q There will be an occasion during which it is necessary to have interaction with a consumer displaying aggressive behavior.
