Ability Camp Counselor
Our Doylestown location is searching for Ability Camp Counselors for the 2021 Summer Camp season! The ideal Ability Camp Counselor candidate must have strong organizational and communication skills, feel comfortable working with specially abled children, and communicate well with parents and team members.
Competitive Wage: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
Requirements for Ability Camp Counselor:
At least 18 years old
2+ years working with children, teens, and or young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Degree (completed or in progress) in special education, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, or a related field.
Ability to use de-escalation strategies to handle situations that may arise
Must attend all camp training
Days/Hours Needed for Ability Camp Counselor: Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 6:00PM; shifts will vary (25 hours per week) *This is a seasonal position from mid June to August*
Responsibilities for Ability Camp Counselors:
Supervise and engage Ability Campers in regularly scheduled camp activities and provide pull-out opportunities for campers who may need them.
Provide instructional support and age appropriate progressive skill development in the program
Adapt program activities according to camper’s needs
Maintain confidentiality of participant information
Evaluate camper’s success toward goals using appropriate assessment tool
Provide feedback to participants and parents/guardians on individual performance
Pay Rate: $10.00 - $15.00/ hour based upon experience
