RN Nurse - Immunization Coordinator

What You'll Do
The primary objective of the Staff Nurse/Refugee Immunization Coordinator is to oversee the immunization program at Siloam Health Melrose. This includes:
- Inventory management for all vaccine stocked at Siloam Health Melrose,
- Overseeing timely scheduling of patients for vaccine appointments,
- Coordinating patient assistance for eligible patients needing vaccines, and
- Facilitating the Refugee Medical Screening Program vaccine visits per Siloam Health policies and procedure.
In addition, the coordinator will serve PRN as a staff nurse in primary care clinic processes such as intake, triage, patient education and in-office diagnostics.
Immunization Coordination
- Assists the Director of Nursing in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to the immunizations within the Refugee Medical Screening Program and Patient Assistance for Vaccines Programs.
- Serves as the Back-Up Coordinator for Vaccines for Children at Siloam Health Melrose.
- Monitors immunization cards and vaccination record sheets for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitors patient records for follow-up vaccinations and communicates with the Refugee Clinic leadership or caseworkers as necessary.
- Identifies, recommends and implements best practices related to immunizations.
- Provides cost, time management data, and clinical input to the Director of Nursing to be considered as basis of annual contract renewal with Tennessee Office of Refugees.
- Trains and oversees volunteer nurses providing immunizations.
- Compiles monthly reports to support the program, including:
- Performing/overseeing monthly and PRN inventories
- Projecting vaccine quantities based upon patients’ schedules and reviewing with the Director of Nursing as needed
- Preparing and placing orders with vendors
- Receiving orders, comparing packing slip with amounts received, labeling appropriately, and refrigerating vaccines according to product circular guidelines
Nursing Care
- Provides basic triage for the nurse line, sending messages to the appropriate physicians.
- Performs basic triage for walk-in patients.
- Performs the following in-office procedures as needed: HbA1c, blood glucose, strep screen, U/A, pregnancy test, EKGs and audiometry.
- Provides PO, IM and nebulized medications as needed. Provides IV access on occasion.
- Provides training and resource support for volunteer nurses.
- Performs phlebotomy for in-office laboratory as needed.
- Collaborates with other members of the team by making phone calls on behalf of the provider to the patient, pharmacy or another physician’s office.
- Provides patient education as directed by the provider.
- Provides patient assessment and follow-up through phone calls and occasional home visits.
- Delivers care in the manner that preserves patient autonomy, dignity and rights.
- Participates in on-going quality improvement (QI) activities within the roles defined above.

Education and Experience
- Current Tennessee RN licensure
- Current CPR certification is required
- 1 year of experience preferred
- Experience with an EMR (electronic medical record) system as well as MS Office
Qualifications
- Passionate about Christian ministry to the underserved and in full agreement with Siloam’s mission and core values
- Willingness to serve persons with limited access to healthcare and who are from different cultures and faith beliefs
- Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office products as well as electronic medical records preferred
- Adherence to OSHA and confidentiality requirements
- Ability to work well in a team setting
- Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred
- Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish or English/Arabic)
Special Conditions of Employment
- Willingness to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination or provide proof of previous immunization
- Initial TB screening upon hire
