Position Title:        Payroll Coordinator

Reporting to:         Payroll Supervisor


Position Summary


The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of hourly and salaried payroll for Canadian and US employees and participating in both payroll and accounting disciplines. The position requires multi-tasking skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks. We are looking for an energetic team player that has a proven background of working collaboratively with teams throughout an organization.


Key Responsibilities

         Assist with preparation of bi-weekly payroll processing for hourly and salary employees

         Ensure accurate processing of day-to-day payroll updates and documentation including new hires, pay rate changes, terminations, and ROEs

         Assist with payroll related inquiries from employees, management and government agencies

         Support improvement of efficiency and effectiveness of payroll processes

         Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and state regulations (e.g. WCB, BC health tax, etc.)

         Document and maintain operating manuals for all payroll processes

         Prepare journal entries for bi-weekly payroll, accruals, and other adjustments as necessary

         Prepare month-end payroll reconciliations and working papers

         Assist accounting team with general accounting duties and month-end requirements

         Other payroll related tasks as assigned


Required Qualifications and Skills:


Qualifications and Experience:

         PCP, equivalent experience, or in the final steps of program

         2 to 3 years of experience in a payroll or accounting role

         Working knowledge of Payworks and Paychex payroll systems is an asset
