Telemarketer - Seasonal Part-Time

This is a remote role Seasonal $19.50-$22.11/hour


This is a part-time time seasonal (casual) role to support fundraising efforts during peak seasons. Telemarketers are an integral part of the development team, supporting fundraising revenues by making outbound calls to individuals to request donations for specific campaigns and strengthen donor engagement.


  •  Make outbound solicitation calls to existing donors to renew annual gifts or contribute to new fundraising campaigns.
  • Make outbound solicitation calls to lapsed donors or individuals who have expressed interest about First United’s work in the community
  • Make outbound thank you calls to donors, corporate sponsors or congregation supporters for both the annual fund and capital campaigns
  • Capture donor and prospect data from the call, including comments and payment information.
  • Have a strong understanding of First United's work and an ability to answer questions about the organiation and complex issues in the Downtown Eastside.


  • Demonstrate ability to secure donations over the phone and meet financial targets
  • Excellent verbal communications skills, especially telephone skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Have a technical understanding for basic fundraising concepts and phone campaigning
  • Demonstrate skill, speed, and accuracy with capturing data and payment information
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in handling repetitive situations
  • Strong computer proficiency in a PC environment using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and various online platforms
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly and with tact
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals from all backgrounds with respect, diplomacy, and confidence


  • High School Diploma or combination of education & experience
  • Minimum two years of experience in a telemarketing or fundraising role
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel
  • Strong experience in customer service and working with the public
  • Experience working in the Downtown Eastside, or an understanding of the neighbourhood is a bonus


Supervisory Responsibility:

The incumbent reports to the Director of Development to deliver on telemarketing targets. The incumbent will also support the Fund Development Manager on tasks related to annual giving and capital campaign targets.

Regular communication is maintained with all levels of staff and management.  Communication is also maintained with management and co-workers as work is assigned and completed, and information exchanged on an ongoing basis.

Wage Range:  $19.50 - $22.11 (based on union seniority)*
* Please note JJEP Classification 5 starts at $18.98/hr but First United does not pay less than $19.50/hr per living wage certification.
