RESPONSIBILITY PRINCIPLES AND POSITION PURPOSE:

The Recreation Intern supports the daily delivery of complimentary guest amenities, recreational activities, and on-property experiences. This position helps create a welcoming, active, and memorable atmosphere for guests by maintaining guest activity areas, assisting with complimentary offerings, supporting hotel departments, and responding to guest needs throughout the property.

The Recreation Intern is expected to be highly visible, approachable, proactive, and flexible. This role will assist with a variety of guest-experience projects and operational needs as directed by management.


Principal responsibilities and duties include:

·        Assist with the setup, operation, replenishment, cleanup, and tear-down of complimentary guest amenities, including ice cream service, s’mores service, lawn games, and other seasonal offerings.

·        Bring complimentary ice cream to the pool as scheduled and maintain a clean, organized, guest-ready service area.

·        Set up, host, and tear down lawn game tournaments and other informal guest activities.

·        Organize paddle craft, paddles, life jackets, and related marina equipment throughout the day.

·        Conduct regular property walks to identify guest needs, cleanliness concerns, safety issues, maintenance needs, and opportunities to improve the guest experience.

·        Walk the Main Lodge, Viking building, pool area, marina, and other common areas regularly to ensure spaces remain clean, organized, welcoming, and guest ready.

·        Assist guests who appear to need directions, recommendations, assistance, or general information about the property and surrounding area.

·        Check in with Concierge regarding guest deliveries, errands, and requests that may require assistance throughout the day.

·        Check in with the marina team regularly to determine whether support is needed.

·        Carry and monitor the Front Desk radio during the shift and respond to requests involving common-area cleanliness, guest needs, or operational support.

·        Create work orders for broken items, maintenance concerns, or safety issues and submit them to management as directed.

·        Assist with keeping common areas, activity spaces, amenity stations, and outdoor guest areas clean and organized.

·        Maintain inventory of guest-amenity supplies, lawn game equipment, ice cream supplies,

·        S’mores supplies, signage, and related materials; notify management when supplies are low.

·        Assist with special events, holiday programming, group activities, seasonal experiences, and other hotel initiatives.

·        Maintain a positive, professional, and hospitable presence while representing the Lodge at Whitefish Lake.

·        Support good public, departmental, employee, and guest relations.

·        Anticipate guest needs and take ownership of the overall guest experience.

·        Maintain high ethical standards, professionalism, and a positive attitude.

·        Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

 

Knowledge, skills, and ability are required for the job.

The Recreation Intern should possess strong guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills. This individual must be comfortable engaging with guests of all ages and providing friendly, helpful assistance throughout the property.

·        The ability to communicate effectively with guests, staff, management, and ownership verbally, in writing, and over the phone.

·        Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

·        Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented in high-volume or changing environments.

·        Ability and willingness to work independently while also supporting a team environment.

·        Ability and willingness to adhere to all Averill Hospitality policies and ensure departmental compliance.

·        Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and shift focus as guest and operational needs change throughout the day.

·        Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time spent on each function to be solely determined by the General Manager based upon the requirements of the company.

·        Assist Concierge, Front Desk, Marina, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other hotel departments as needed.

·        Assist with guest deliveries, errands, transportation support, and property-related projects.

·        Maintain an open line of communication between guests, employees, and management.

·        Participate in hotel events, guest programming, and community-facing activities as assigned.

·        Assist with any additional tasks that arise. This position may be required to perform other and additional duties as assigned by the manager.

·        Adventure Services Manager, Concierge Team, Front Office Manager, Marina Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Maintenance Team, Restaurant Managers, and General Manager.

NOTICE:

Standing, bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to and including 50 lbs. may be required. The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be always projected.
