The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health Promotion, The HIPPY Manager coordinates the development, implementation, administration, supervision, and evaluation of the HIPPY Program. This position works collaboratively with staff, partner agencies, and community-based organizations. HIPPY Canada and funders to achieve the program goals and objectives in accordance with the contractual agreement.

Key Responsibilities:

After successful completion of the Pre-service training seminar, the HIPPY Manager has responsibility for:

§  Executing the HIPPY program in accordance with the terms specified in the contractual agreement

§  Recruitment, selection, and orientation of   HIPPY program staff; support home visitors with recruitment of eligible HIPPY families

§  Ongoing supervision and training of Home Visitors, which may include the planning and execution of an appropriate staff development plan

§  Manages the HIPPY program budget. Ensures service and program expenditures and operations are within approved budget parameters.

§  Monitor and review service delivery including quality of care, making periodic home visits

§  Planning and executing bi-weekly group meetings that include role playing the subsequent week's activity packet and the provision of an enrichment activity

§  Timely entering and completion of data into the ETO system

§  Planning and preparation for initial and regular site visits by Mothers Matter Centre staff or a designee

§  Working in conjunction with the local HIPPY advisory committee

§  Establishing effective partnerships with other human service organizations to ensure optimal service delivery to participating families

§  Participation in local (regional) and national HIPPY conferences, in-service training, and meetings

§   Market HIPPY Program and services by performing such activities as representing the program at organizational meetings, inter-agency committees and community forums.

§  Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

The HIPPY Manager is required to successfully complete the Pre-service Training before starting a new program or becoming a new Manager within an existing program.  The HIPPY Pre-service Training is 5 days in duration and covers all aspects of administering a HIPPY program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, elementary, family or adult education, social work or any other related field.

·       Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and supervisory skills. Proven ability to lead a diverse multi-disciplinary team of employees in multiple locations.

·       Minimum 2 years of experience in supervisory or managerial role

·       Knowledge of and experience in developing and managing funded programs

·       Strong English language skills including written, oral and presentation skills.

·       Ability to speak one of the following second languages would be considered an asset: Arabic, Farsi, Tigrenian, or Spanish.

·       Demonstrated knowledge of and deep understanding of the needs and interests of families from diverse backgrounds including challenges associated with socio-economic access

·       Willingness to work as a productive and collaborative team member

·       Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills

·       Good computer skills; strong computer literacy skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·       Prior experience in one or more of the following areas is an asset: educational administration, community mobilization, parent empowerment/family support, child/family advocacy or staff development
