The Opportunity:

EfficiencyOne is seeking a Technical Business Development Specialist to join our Industrial Business Development team, which is part of the Customer Experience and Partnerships Department. The Specialist will support the team by coordinating and preparing preliminary technical and financial inputs for industrial energy efficiency opportunities and assisting with outreach, onboarding, and customer support for our Demand Response Aggregator program.

The Technical Business Development Specialist should have a broad understanding and knowledge of energy management, demand response, and energy-efficient technologies and be familiar with energy audit and measurement & verification (M&V) methodologies, particularly in industrial settings. In addition, understanding Demand Side Management and Demand Response programs and measures and experience in business and/or project management will be considered assets.

· 

  • Assisting Business Development efforts in outreach, onboarding, and customer support for the E1 Demand Response Aggregator program.
  • Providing support to Business Development to achieve annual peak demand savings targets
  • Collaborating with Business Development Managers and E1 Project Engineers to facilitate technical discussions with customers and consultants.
  • Assisting Custom Project Engineers with the coordination of M&V procedures.
  • Assisting with customer outreach to drive participation in E1 industrial energy efficiency programs.
  • Analyzing and identifying suitable Demand Response customers and opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining a general knowledge of all Efficiency Nova Scotia programs.
  •    Supporting the Industrial Business Development team by co-ordinating and preparing preliminary technical and financial inputs for advancing industrial energy efficiency projects and achieving energy reduction targets. 

         Performing all other duties as required.

 

What Will Help You Succeed?

                           Ability to work collaboratively with other internal teams, working groups, and departments as needed.


What to Expect:

In the first week, expect to:

  • Meet with Industrial BDMs and key Program team members, including Custom, Business Energy Rebates, and Small Business Energy Solutions.  
  • Read program materials to get familiar with documentation, tools, and processes.
  • Meet with colleagues from other teams to understand how they impact the Industrial Energy Management team (Business Development, Custom program, and Industrial Energy Managers).
  • Work with your manager to develop your understanding of programs, processes, job responsibilities, program targets, and overall program goals.

 

In the first month, expect to:

  • Meet the rest of the BDM team and understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Learn how to navigate and use the program project tracking/management tools.
  • Meet other team members with whom you will work closely and understand how you will collaborate.
  • Establish a performance plan with your manager.
  • Develop an understanding of demand response customer analysis
  • Continue self-directed and peer learning to develop knowledge of energy efficiency measures.

 

In the first three months, expect to:

  • Become familiar with M&V and metering processes.
  • Attend industrial facility site visits with Industrial Business Development Managers.
  • Be able to manage program tracking information and management tools.
  • Contribute to team/department initiatives.
  • Meet with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Work with your manager to develop individual learning/development goals.
