The Lead Generation Specialist is a key member of the Business Development team and will support business attraction efforts through targeted research, data analysis, and proactive outreach. The Business Development team is charged with maintaining a strong knowledge of the business environment within Montgomery County, conducting targeted outreach, and acting as a liaison between the business community and various government and non-government agencies. Reporting to the Director of Economic Development-Attraction Lead, this role is essential in identifying prospective companies, gathering key information, and initiating contact to set up meetings. The specialist will contribute to the overall attraction strategy by focusing on data mining, prospecting, and maintaining a steady pipeline of qualified leads to help drive economic growth in Montgomery County.


Roles and Responsibilities:

·       Identify and research companies outside of Montgomery County that align with business attraction goals and industries

·       Utilize a host of existing prospecting tools (Linked-In, ZoomInfo, Co-Star, etc.) to research companies that meet existing segmentation criteria in target markets (outside Montgomery County).

·       Mine large data sets to build and maintain targeted prospect lists aligned with campaign goals

·       Reach out to companies via phone, email, LinkedIn, and other sources to introduce Montgomery County and schedule meetings or site visits

·       Prepare company profiles and background materials to support prospect meetings and visits

·       Stay organized by maintaining accurate records in SharePoint, Salesforce, and other project management tools

·       Provide feedback to the marketing and research team on data, outreach materials such as presentations, emails, and LinkedIn messages

·       Research and recommend relevant trade shows, conferences, and marketing trips to attend

·       Track trends in economic development, site selection, and business incentives

·       Support special projects and assist with coordination, outreach, and content development as needed

·       Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Economic Development or the President & CEO

Required Skills & Qualifications:

·       High degree of accuracy in data entry and documentation

·       Writes clearly and informatively and varies writing style to meet needs

·       Strong team player

·       Attention to detail

·       Ability to represent MCEDC at community-based events and meetings 

·       Adaptable to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, changing approaches or methods to best fit the situation, and dealing with frequent changes or unexpected events.

·       Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to meet tight deadlines within budgetary constraints, and to handle multiple projects simultaneously and autonomously

·       Hold a valid U.S. driver’s license

Preferred:

·       Experience working in business development, economic development or related field

·       Experience mining and organizing large sets of data.

·       Bachelor’s Degree in related field

·       1+ years of relevant experience

·       Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office Suite. High-level proficiency in Excel

·       Experience working with CRM systems such as Salesforce

·       Familiarity with standard office equipment

Description of physical demands and work environment:

·       Must be able to travel throughout the county to companies, partner organizations, meetings and events

·       Must be able to occasionally travel outside of the region to events and trade shows

·       Must be able to use office equipment and computers

·       Position may require moderate lifting of supplies and materials from time to time

·       The working environment is a general office environment with a moderate noise level
