About Working on a “Floatel”
LandSea will be providing workforce catering and accommodation services for guests onboard the MV Isabelle, a 650 passenger “Floatel”. The Floatel will be permanently docked in Squamish, B.C. and is estimated to operate for up to three years. All crew members onboard the MV Isabelle must have the minimum marine safety certifications required by Transport Canada for the specific job.
Individuals who do not have the required marine safety certifications (see details below) will be required to attend a 5 – 10-day marine safety program. LandSea covers the costs of training, however, crew who do not complete minimum employment contracts are responsible to repay part of all the training costs.
At work, the crew are provided with accommodation, full meals, WIFI and can access health/gym facilities they can access when off work. We provide partial uniforms and help with the travel/reservations as needed to and from locations. Excellent Health and Wellness benefits are offered after three months.
About the Opportunity
We currently have openings for Janitors and Office Cleaners in the Housekeeping Department. The Housekeeping department is responsible for maintaining the highest level of cleanliness and service in guest staterooms, public areas, and open decks.
The Janitor and Office Cleaner is responsible for providing support to various departments to ensure the smooth operation of the vessel. Your role is crucial to maintaining a clean and organized environment, assisting the maintenance and repair of equipment, and supporting the needs of the guests and crew members. You will work under the supervision of the Housekeeping Manager and collaborate with different teams to fulfill daily tasks. Your reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will contribute to a positive guest experience onboard.
Applicants must have prior experience within the hospitality industry, an understanding of public health and environment requirements relating to cabin service, good verbal communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitation:
Perform general cleaning duties in public areas, crew areas, and other designated areas of the ship.
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, dust surfaces, and clean windows and glass.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and other fixtures.
Empty trash and recycling bins, ensuring proper waste disposal procedures are followed.
Waste Management:
Sort and separate recyclable materials from general waste.
Assist in the collection and disposal of waste according to established procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in waste storage areas.
Equipment Maintenance and Support:
Assist in the maintenance and repair of equipment, such as laundry machines, dishwashers, and other appliances.
Report equipment malfunctions or damage to the appropriate personnel.
Assist engineering staff in minor repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
Supply Inventory and Stocking:
Assist in inventory management, including receiving, storing, and distributing supplies.
Maintain organized storage areas for cleaning supplies, equipment, and spare parts.
Monitor stock levels and inform the supervisor when replenishment is needed.
Assist with the delivery and distribution of supplies to different departments.
Guest and Crew Assistance:
Provide assistance to guests and crew members as needed, including answering questions and directing them to the appropriate locations.
Deliver requested items to guest cabins or crew areas.
Safety and Security:
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Report any safety hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Participate in safety drills and training activities as required.
Collaboration and Communication:
Maintain effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, and other departments.
Assist and support other departments when necessary, such as Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, or Engineering.
Attend departmental meetings and briefings.
