OVERVIEW

The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for expediting the review and the response for Requests for Information (RFI), Shop Drawings and Submittals and the maintenance of as-built information.  The PE will assist Project Manager(s) and Superintendent(s) with contractor supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to a high standard; 

Ø  Preparing complete, accurate and timely submittal and punch list logs for construction projects based on the project drawings and specifications. 

Ø  Accountable for tracking and receiving approved submittals from Architect/Engineer and/or Owner’s team and notifying the same if their review and approval has potential schedule impact. 

Ø  Keep the submittals on time to work with the project’s schedule.

Ø  Assist the Project Team in managing technical and contractual issues as needed.

Ø  Create scopes of work for contracts and purchase orders for each trade as determined by project for review by Project Manager.

Ø  Attend progress meetings and prepare meeting minutes for distribution.

Ø  Prepare, review and process RFI’s, accountable for tracking and receiving response in required time frame.  Maintain RFI log as required.  Keep the RFI’s on time to work with project schedule.

Ø  May assist with oversight of all field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors.

Ø  Receive, review, and analyze bid documents (e.g., specifications, scope, contract terms & conditions).

Ø  Assist with preparation of proposal documents.

Ø  Prepare progress requests for submittal to customers.

Ø  Develop correspondence regarding project information as directed by Project Manager.

Ø  Create and maintain documentation for submittals, RFI's, change orders, meeting minutes, etc.

Ø  Assist project managers with QA/QA and Safety Assurance.

Ø  Perform job walks, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE DESIRED

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to fulfill the obligations of this position successfully.

§  Bachelor’s degree in construction management or directly related field preferred.

§  1-3 years’ experience in a construction related field preferred.

§  Certifications in safety, OSHA training, and general continuing education

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR, ABILITIES REQUIRED

§  The Candidate must be able to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times primarily as it relates to interactions with fellow employees, clients, vendors and, others whom assist us in our operations. 

§  Candidate must possess excellent communication skills to include written, oral and, interpersonal skills.

§  Proficient use of technology and all major office-related computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software (Microsoft Office or similar) are required.  Further the applicant must be comfortable with cloud-based applications, not merely computer-based ones.  Additionally, training on company specific software will be required therefore, the Candidate must be willing and committed to learning and becoming proficient in new software programs quickly. 

§  This position is a field-based and office-based position, as required.  Carrying or handling materials may be necessary.

§  This position requires that the individual holding it provide his or her own transportation, a valid Driver License, and sufficient automobile insurance coverage.
