Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for the overall operation of the Accounting and Purchasing Office.
  • Responsible for all activities of the general accounting function to ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of all financial results for the facility.
  • Responsible for Month-End and Year-End close; maintains the General Ledger; and prepares statements to reflect the financial condition and operating performance of Iroquois Nursing Home.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of all monthly financial statements, monitors, and provides detailed explanations of all variance on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure all reconciling schedules are completed timely and ready for Year-End audit.
  • Coordinate the Year-End close process through interaction with internal managers and outside audit firm personnel.
  • Comply with all established departmental policies and procedures in accordance with Iroquois directives.
  • Establish goals and objectives for staff development; hiring and training; as well as counseling or terminating underperforming employees.
  • Motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance as well as evaluate employee performance.
  • Enhance customer service through the implementation of reporting and processing improvements and promotion of service-oriented approach within all functional responsibilities.
  • Receive and resolve inquiries from management regarding monthly financial results.
  • Coordinate all activities within the tax function to ensure accurate and timely reporting of 1099s and Form 990s.
  • Coordinate all activities of the accounts payable and purchasing functions to ensure accurate processing orders, vendor invoices, while optimizing the liability management function as it relates to the enhancement of results; achieve optimal A/P turnover of 30 days.
  • Coordinate all activities of the accounts receivable as it relates to timely cash receipts recording; review daily cash receipts and recommend cash transfer as necessary.
  • Prepare Medicaid/Medicare cost reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget and report for the Iroquois Nursing Home.
  • Informs staff and others, as required, of updates to the Accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related tasks as directed based on department and/or facility needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

 Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business.
  • 5+ years of Accounting experience, with supervisory experience.

 Technical Skills

  • Have three to five years prior experience in accounting and financial reporting areas.
  • Advanced experienced with Microsoft Excel and strong systems thinker.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
