Nutrition Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Works with the facility's Registered Dietitian and Certified Dietary Manager as necessary and implements recommended changes as needed.
- Assures that all Food & Nutrition procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Checks completed menus for nutritional adequacy and makes changes as needed.
- Participates in and assists in departmental studies and projects as assigned or necessary.
- Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to the Certified Dietary Manager or Food Service Director, immediately.
- Maintains confidentially of all pertinent resident information.
- Others as deemed necessary and appropriate or as may be directed.
Qualifications
Education/Training/Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Prefer a high school diploma or a GED. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must be able to follow directions and on occasion make independent decisions, when circumstances warrant such actions. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing Food and Nutrition practices. Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and the appearance of work areas. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must have strong knowledge of diets and appropriate substitutions. Works to assure residents are given adequate and balanced meals.
Skills
Must possess proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; decision-making skills, basic computer skills; and be able to operate various medical and/or office equipment. Must demonstrate knowledge of safety techniques. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.
