Traveling Specialty Structural Steel Welder

RTW Industrial Specialties is sourcing highly experienced Specialty Structural Steel Welders for current and upcoming field projects throughout the Southeastern United States.
We are seeking experienced welders capable of performing high-quality structural and industrial welding in demanding field environments.
Candidates must be proficient in FCAW and possess the skill and experience necessary to successfully complete the contracting firm's required 6G Restricted Pipe Test and any other project-specific qualification requirements before assignment.
- Significant structural steel and/or heavy industrial welding experience
- Advanced proficiency with FCAW
- Ability to successfully complete a 6G Restricted Pipe Test
- Ability to qualify to the applicable project WPS
- Current TWIC card or Real ID
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening
- Ability to satisfy applicable customer and site-access requirements
- Ability to satisfy project-specific drug/alcohol screening requirements, where applicable
- Ability to read and interpret WPSs, weld symbols, structural drawings, and project specifications
- Knowledge of joint preparation, fit-up, welding parameters, preheat/interpass requirements, and weld quality standards
- Ability and willingness to travel to project locations throughout the Southeastern United States
- Ability to meet the scheduling and availability requirements associated with individual project assignments
The contracting firm requires welders assigned to this work to successfully complete a 6G Restricted Pipe Test.
Successful completion of required welding qualification testing is a condition of eligibility for assignment to applicable projects. Previous certifications, qualifications, or experience do not automatically waive project-specific testing requirements.
Candidates should only be submitted if they possess the experience and technical proficiency necessary to successfully perform the required qualification testing.
RTW Industrial Specialties anticipates utilizing qualified personnel through different engagement structures depending upon the specific project and business requirements.
Some opportunities may be offered as W-2 employment with RTW Industrial Specialties.
Certain opportunities may be available to independent contractors or independent businesses, provided the relationship meets applicable federal and state requirements for independent contractor classification.
The sourcing or qualification of an individual does not determine worker classification. Employment or independent contractor status will be determined separately based upon the actual circumstances and requirements of the engagement and applicable law.
Compensation, travel arrangements, per diem, scheduling, benefits eligibility, insurance requirements, tax treatment, and other terms will be communicated based upon the applicable engagement and project.
These opportunities involve substantial travel throughout the Southeastern United States. Project locations, durations, schedules, and travel requirements will vary by assignment.
Candidates should be prepared for extended assignments away from their home location and movement between project sites as work becomes available.
