WCAC is in search of a qualified professional to take on this newly created role. The Cliff Effect Coach will meet with clients to provide guidance as they return to the workforce or face an increase in income combined with a decrease or loss of relied-upon public benefits.  The Coach will utilize planning and financial empowerment tools to develop a plan of action with clients, taking into consideration family needs.  Through a client-centered lens, the Coach will consult with and coach clients using knowledge of the wide range of public benefits, ensure access to needed benefits, and make referrals to community resources.

The Cliff Effect Coach is a position within WCAC’s Resiliency Center, working to build and develop the programs offered together with the Strategy Development Team, Financial Empowerment Director, and Financial Coach.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Science/Social Work or other relevant degree
  • 2-4 years experience in counseling, case management or coaching
  • Experience with systems of public benefits desired
  • Knowledge of and comfort with discussing financial issues faced by limited and moderate-income households
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with a diverse group of clients and in a multi-cultural environment
  • High degree of computer literacy with excellent knowledge of spreadsheet and database software applications
  • Knowledge of Central Massachusetts area community resources and web-based resources preferred
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Highly positive and enthusiastic style; capable of motivating others.  Strong customer service and client empowerment orientation
  • Ability to work remotely and in-person moving between office locations and at community partner organization locations.
  • Bilingual language ability desired

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend trainings related to public benefit eligibility and access; complete self-paced online course in Mobility Mentoring (client-centered coaching approach)
  • Consult with and coach clients to assist them with navigating the Cliff Effect; this may be one-time assistance or longer-term.
  • Respond to inquiries for assistance related to public benefits access and eligibility, coordinating a return to the workforce or increase in income with benefit levels.
  • Conduct an initial and regular assessments; create personal income planning worksheet using a client-centered approach; follow-up with clients to review, adjust, and assess goals and plans
  • Create a coaching environment with clients that uses reflective listening, asks open-ended questions, acts as a thinking partner, inspires ownership, and partners with a client to improve their well-being.
  • Pilot and utilize newly-developed online client career and financial planning tools to help clients to make informed decisions.
  • Track and meet high touch outcomes (ex. enrollment, retention, job attainment, financial outcomes) set by the Agency and funders.
  • Develop and maintain a system to regularly follow-up with clients in order to achieve individualized goals.
  • Manage client tracking data using a database system and internal spreadsheets; track client outcomes, enter client data into database accurately and in a timely manner; maintain client files.
  • Strengthen access to internal Agency programs and community resources through warm, supported referrals; utilize CommunityHELP platform to manage and track referrals and their outcomes.
  • Work with internal programs to develop and implement process for recruiting clients in need of services.
  • Assist in the development of partnerships with local agencies and other community resources relative to public benefits access and eligibility.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with key stakeholders (participants, partner organizations, funders etc.).
  • Participate in Agency Community of Practice, learning communities, and rapid-cycle impact process.
  • Complete program summary reports for funders, WCAC leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor to ensure smooth delivery of services.
  • Demonstrate timely follow-through and responsiveness to client and program needs.  Assist clients to access resources to develop and maintain active support systems within WCAC programs and the community.
