Purpose of Position and Responsibilities:
The Advocacy and Policy Intern will assist the advocacy team in developing and implementing strategies to engage elected officials, policymakers, and ally advocates in support of our vision for a nation where everyone enjoys a fair share of our collective prosperity. 

As the Advocacy and Policy Intern, you will: 
  • Monitor political and legislative movement, compiling daily updates for Roosevelt staff and briefing materials on current activity 
  • Track and attend relevant briefings, meetings, webinars, and hearings, taking notes and reporting back to Advocacy staff
  • Research policy items related to the work of the Advocacy team, assisting in drafting advocacy materials such as briefs, reports, and fact sheets
  • Provide administrative support to Advocacy team, including scheduling, taking notes, organizing files, and other duties as needed
  • Collaborate and engage with members of other Roosevelt departments to advance the mission of the Institute
About You: 
  • Current College student or recent graduate
  • Committed to racial, gender, and economic justice 
  • Passionate about issues related to mission of the Roosevelt Institute
  • Some demonstrated skill, education, and/or experience in advocacy, government affairs, media, or related topics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A willingness to learn
What We Offer: 
This is a remote, paid opportunity that offers $15 per hour at 12 hours per week ($1440 for 8 weeks). 

In addition, you'll receive first-hand experience in a fast-paced advocacy environment, allowing you to cultivate relevant skills and expand your knowledge on public policy issues. The Advocacy team takes an active interest in your personal and professional development and ensures an enriching, challenging, and fun experience.
