Type 3 Fire Fighter (Experienced)

Mount Currie, BC Seasonal $20.50-$28.50/hour

Title: Type 3 Fire Fighter (min 60hrs experience req'd)

Wage: $20.50 to $28.50 per hour

Status: Seasonal

Reporting to: Forestry Crew Lead


Summary of Duties:

The Type 3 Fire Fighter is a member of Líĺwat Forestry Venture Forestry Fire Fighter crew, contracted to perform Wildfire Response Services and Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Services. 


Key Deliverables and Expectations:

Works in teams of up to 5 to complete project assignments provided by the Crew Lead/Supervisor/Manager

Actively participates in daily crew briefings on all daily tasks and project objectives

Efficiently navigate offroad/bush terrain on foot and using off-road vehicles

Participates in maintaining Health and Safety standards by monitoring work practices in the field and by providing for emergency health and safety measures.

Services may include but are not limited to:

Mitigation: prescribed fire support, fuel modification projects, hazard reduction, etc.

Preparedness: sandbag, standby for quicker response based on fire behaviour and fire hazard, based on river forecasting center, etc.

Response: fire, flooding, drought, landslide, atmospheric river events, etc.

Recovery: demobilization of equipment after any event, etc. 

Maintain firefighting equipment

Participates in the operation and maintenance of crew vehicles and equipment by ensuring compliance with         safety standards, training procedures, and local laws

Responsible for truck inspection, refueling trucks, and maintaining other LFV equipment like ETV’s, UTV’s and chippers

Perform other related duties as requested.


Experience and Attributes:

Class 5 driver’s license preferred, but not required

Experience in hand and power tool safety preferred but not required

Ability to multi-task and adapt in a flexible and fast-paced environment

Strong organizational skills

Hardworking, positive attitude, willing to take initiative

Excellent/good interpersonal skills

Ability to work flexible hours

Ability to travel as required for the position

S-100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety or equivalent (annual re-currency) or WSPP-Wildland Firefighter-1

S-185 Fire Entrapment Avoidance

Five (5) certifiable days (12 hours per day) actively involved in firefighting

Annual Physical Fitness Test – Moderate Standard
