The Opportunity: 

The Digital Literacy Program Assistant will primarily be responsible for supporting the Digital Navigator in the preparation and delivery of group workshops towards improving immigrant and refugee’s digital literacy skills and confidence. The Digital Literacy Program Assistant will oversee the program device inventory, its loaning process as well as responding to emerging basic needs of program clients. The Digital Literacy Program Assistant will support the delivery of client centered and responsive digital literacy programming as well as contribute in the development and uptake of equitable digital inclusion strategies. The Digital Literacy Program Assistant will support the ultimate goal of reducing the expanding digital gap, increasing access and digital literacy for immigrants and refugees, guided by the vision of achieving digital democracy in our community.

The key areas of responsibility are: 

 • Assisting the Digital Navigator with all of the project deliverables to ensure that the project meets the set targets; 

Assist the management team in the collection of data and information in order to develop financial and reporting outputs;

Supports program volunteers and clients; 

Assists with organizing all digital literacy workshops, including but not limited to preparing meeting space, distribution and tracking of devices and so on; 

Liaises between clients, volunteers and staff members to better identify needs and gaps; 

Assists with recruitment process of program clients and volunteers; 

Supports with capturing needs and trends of community through assisting with the administering of surveys and compiling data; 

Coordinates client referrals by responding to client inquiries via general phone or email and based on the eligibility of programs and language needs.

Answering client and staff inquiries;

Organize, loan and track program’s devices to ensure full accountability and efficient access to technology.

Qualified candidates will possess: 

 • Post-secondary training or certificate in Office Administration and a minimum 2 years experience in an office environment; 

Recent, relevant experience working in administration in funded settlement and refugee support programs and/or non- profits an asset; 

Strong English communication skills, written and oral; 

Ability to communicate effectively with people with varying English proficiency; 

Excellent computer and Internet skills (advanced knowledge of MS Office, Excel and other databases), with a typing speed of 50wpm; 

Competency with office equipment, procedures and business communications; 

Professional telephone manners and good interpersonal skills;

Ability to work cooperatively within a teams;

Excellent organizational and time-management skills;

Exhibits cross-cultural competency.
