We are seeking to add an Accountant to the Finance team. This position will assist in the operation of the finance department including Grants Management, Payroll Processing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, month end closing and allocation entries.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required, Bachelors’ degree preferred.  
  • Related work experience of one year required. Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn Payroll systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of general accounting software, Microsoft Office and related office software, particularly Excel.               
  • Ability to learn new software related to finance operations.
  • Knowledge of Health Benefit Plans, Worker’s Compensation, and 403b Retirement Plan for calculation of employee payroll deductions a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and outside agencies.
  • Ability to be proactive and work as an integral part of the fiscal team.
  • Maintain a customer-service orientation to internal and external customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Must become knowledgeable about the cost principles and selected items of cost (direct and indirect) as reflected in Federal OMB Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200 and Massachusetts 808 CMR 1.04 regulation.
  • Serve as Grants Manager for assigned service grants and contracts.
  • Under supervision of the Senior Accountant or Chief Financial Officer, responsible for Payroll data entry, processing, updating and maintaining payroll and related information.
  • Under supervision of the Senior Accountant or Chief Financial Officer, responsible for Accounts Payable data entry, processing, and payments and related AP information.
  • Responsible for creating and entering General Journal entries as requested.
  • As a member of the Finance team, participate in accounting operations as assigned under the supervision of a Senior Accountant or the Chief financial officer.
  • Provide backup and support to Senior Accountants and Chief Financial Officer as assigned.
