Job Title:                Process Improvement Manager

Reporting To:        Director, Manufacturing


Position Summary:

The Process Improvement Manager will drive significant improvements to all areas of our Operations value stream, from Capacity Planning, Supply Chain (internal & external), Manufacturing, Quality and Warehouse & Logistics. Utilizing projects and kaizen events, as part of the agreed Continuous Improvement (CI) Roadmap, this role will be critical in driving changes and getting results that align with company goals and strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Operations Team in driving and developing a lean manufacturing culture by using Kaizen tools, including SMED, Standard Work and Value Stream Mapping
  • Work with the leadership team to identify a clear CI Roadmap linked to our strategic development plans and facilitate kaizen events to ensure improvements are followed through, presented, and reported
  • Proactively lead and contribute to cost reduction and improvement initiatives within Operations
  • Actively support the culture-change towards continuous improvement by training, developing, implementing, and maintaining improvement processes using operational excellence tools
  • Promote and lead the Continuous Improvement and problem-solving philosophy, by driving improvements to our processes within Operations as well as, throughout the organization
  • Support the development of new products and manufacturing processes
  • Lead and facilitate kaizen events within our Operations, delivering breakthrough and sustainable results
  • Mentor teams during early stages of lean implementation to ensure forward momentum is maintained
  • Emphasize and set up use of visual management on the shop floor to drive everyday problem solving and to reduce the 7-Wastes of MUDA
  • Develop and deliver process documentation, training material, coaching, and mentoring related to Lean & Six Sigma principles, and data-driven decision-making

 

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • 3-5 years electronics manufacturing and lean manufacturing experience
  • 5+ years technical and operational continuous improvement leadership experience
  • Led / Facilitated multiple ‘kaizen events’, delivering breakthrough and sustainable results
  • Experience in technical presentations, training, and customer relations
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred (Sr. Green Belt may be considered)
  • In depth (SME) knowledge of Lean methodologies including:
    • Problem solving using 8D
    • Value Stream Mapping
    • Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA)
    • Quick Changeover (SMED)
    • Kanban
    • Cell Design for Flow
    • Process Bottleneck Analysis
    • 5S & Visual Management
    • Poke Yoke
    • Standard Work
    • Transactional Process Improvement
    • Production Preparation Process (3P)
  • Openness and ability to share and use best practices across business unit boundaries
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills during projects and kaizen execution
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams; with proven ability to lead others in use of Six Sigma problem-solving methodology and rigor
  • Requires demonstrated success in process improvement for reduction in waste, reduction in cost and / or improvement in process control
  • Be an accomplished self-starter, independent with good multitasking capability
  • Have strong data generation, validation, and management skills, with a desire to solve problems
  • Strong program, project, and change management skills
  • Skilled with computer programs, statistical analysis and data analysis and reporting
  • Willing to be hands on in terms of preparing spreadsheets, developing standard work, and working alongside SMEs and other Green, Yellow & White Belts to drive breakthrough and sustainable improvement
