As the Sr. Packaging Operator, You will

The Sr. Packaging Operator is responsible for taking the lead on running all packaging-related equipment. Including but not limited to machines related to bottling, canning, and kegging of beverages. The Sr. Packaging Operator helps the team to ensure packaging operations comply with PEIBC's standards of quality consistency and traceability and is a leader who also assists with directing other packaging staff on assigned operating equipment.

  • Operate Packaging equipment according to standard operating procedures ensuring packaging deadlines are met for all orders
  • Perform cleaning in place (CIP) procedures on the canning line, bottling & canning equipment
  • Maintain a passing grade in regards to quality control cleaning audits and ensure cleaning is to standards
  • Ensure tanks have been released before packaging
  • Develop the ability to taste and identify brands
  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance tasks on packaging equipment
  • Collaborate with the maintenance technician on quarterly and annual maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and rectify quality issues identified by the Quality Control (QC) team
  • Maintain accurate documentation regarding packaging, quality control, equipment operation, cleaning records, and other Key Performance Indictors (KPI) as required
  • Identify non-conforming products in production and remove them from the line, communicate with QC to determine causes and next steps
  • Collaborate with the production manager on KPI metrics and met set targets
  • End of day closing duties on the production floor
  • Use seam measurements to adjust the canning line to ensure products are in specification and perform seam checks on cans

Who You Are

  • A team player who brings attention to detail and focus
  • Flexible and understanding of the needs of a production environment including a changing production schedule
  • Physically fit, able to lift approx. 50lbs
  • Someone who is self motivated and able to be self-directed at work
  • Broad-based mechanical competency (A trade certificate would be considered an asset)
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Basic computer literacy skills 
  • Effective communication and  interpersonal skills 

What You Bring

  • 3-5 years of experience operating manufacturing equipment, ideally in beverage or food handling
  • Forklift and bulk material handling experience would be considered an asset
  • Enthusiasm to join a growing PEI company
