Pathways to Life is hiring a Substance Abuse Professional to provide community-based services for adults with co-occurring substance use and mental health needs.

This role is designed for clinicians who enjoy building meaningful relationships, working independently in the field, and helping individuals achieve lasting recovery beyond the walls of an office.

What You'll Do

As part of our Community Supports Team (CST), you will work alongside therapists, care coordinators, psychiatric providers, and community partners to support individuals with complex behavioral health needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting assessments and helping develop individualized treatment plans

  • Providing substance use counseling, education, and recovery-focused interventions

  • Helping members strengthen coping skills, daily living skills, and relapse prevention strategies

  • Supporting individuals in accessing community resources, healthcare services, employment supports, and recovery networks

  • Participating in crisis planning and coordinating care across providers and support systems

  • Monitoring progress and documenting services to support continued authorization of care

  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team while maintaining significant autonomy in your daily work

  • Building relationships with community organizations and behavioral health partners to expand support opportunities for members

Qualifications

Required Credential

Candidates must hold one of the following North Carolina substance use credentials:

  • CADC – Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor

  • LCAS – Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist

  • LCAS-A – Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate

  • CCS – Certified Clinical Supervisor

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Regularly walk, stand, bend, and stoop

  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds

  • Drive regularly within the service area

  • Successfully complete NCI-B and CPR requirements
